TB Bypass Actually Worth any Power?

I know the drawbacks etc, and how to do it, but is it actually worth anything on an LT1 performancewise?

On TPIs it helps massively with the power falloff when the motor gets to operating temp. but anything that keeps cool(er) air on the induction side is a definate plus for any motor.

Yes it is worth it. It will net you around 5 horse. I would highly recommend gaining 5 free horsepower.

No dyno has proven it. You can do it if you want I did it and felt no differance.. I feel if your at a point that you need all the Hp you can get do it. If you live where it gets cold and you DD you car don't do it. You can pick the parts up for around 5 dollars at a local car part store.

Wrong! http://www.ws6.com/mod-8.htm . Most 5 horsepower gain mods will not leave you with a feel of the difference unless your very sensitive to those type of things which most people aren't.

I still think there are issues with those dyno pulls.
I would like to see a car make a pull WITH the TB mod and then go back to stock and make another pull.
I do believe anything for free is worth it, and the TB bypass is something. Maybe 2-3 HP though. But for free or REALLY close to it....why not???

I would agree with you on the dyno can be off each run by as much if not for the fact that if anything going by the conditions of the runs the engine was slightly hotter the TB bypass run. Also thats a pretty big difference. Its common to have 2 or 3 horsepower difference between runs but 6.3?

I have had 12 RWHP differences on back to back runs.
Nothing changed.

Nothing changed.Thats pretty dramatic , most of the runs I have seen haven't changed by that much. 2 or 3 here or there but I guess your right if the change from highest to lowest in a series of runs could be that much but I still say going by those conditions its somewhere in that range.

Well, as I stated and John I'm sure you can remember from your TPI days, that once they get to 'normall' temp you feel a pretty big fall off in response with it connected. Disconnected, no you don't feel any off the line gain, just when at operating temp, that falloff does not occur. I personally also think in theory, since the upper and lower plenum are cooler, it may help alieviate the dreaded ICM failure when at temp as well :dunno:

If you agree then why did you post a dyno with a couple runs as Proof?
I have seen that link and I still stand by what I said earlier and say there is NO PROOF.
As already stated there are variances between runs. If they would have done 3 runs w/o TB bypass averaged it then done three runs with and averaged it I would be more apt to believing what I see.
Whatever man I'm not going to argue I was stating my Opinion. Is it a worthwhile mod sure if your trying to squeeze every little bit of HP. Did I do it yes? I don't drive mine in the winter though becuase if I would I wouldn't have done the mod.
Its a near free mod can be done for less than 5 bucks.. to each his own

You said there was never a dyno proving that and there is a dyno proving that why would you say there was a never a dyno saying that if you knew there was and I said in that post I DO BELIEVE IT MADE THAT MUCH OF A DIFFERENCE DUE TO THE CONDITIONS, read what I said again. I wasn't arguing with you before I was just showing you proof cause I thought you had never seen it but now that you give me a attitude problem. I am arguing with you :grinyes: .

Natehttp://www.ws6.com/mycar.htm there you go look at the 20 sum odd runs under a whole bunch of different conditions, Did each series of runs for some other mods net that result? :grinno:

Great, must be John's 28th day 'cause he's a ragg'n.lol, eh. Maybe I was a little too harsh but I was not arguing just pointing out there was a dyno as proof and didn't think the response was in line for the discussion but it could just be me. Its been a hectic week after all. Anyway, sorry if you took it any other way Viper and feel free to see the data one way , while I see it completely different.

Not harsh by any means that second link ws6.com/mycar makes me think more towards the TB bypass being worth it. I'm still not 100% Like I said before if I saw averages of three runs before and after the mod then I would be more apt to saying the TB bypass was no shit gauranteed 5 hp gains. Right now there is still a slim chance that the gains were just your typical variances between runs. I don't mean to be a dick it's just I need to see cold hard facts before I say Yay or ney if something works.
