Oil leaking problem

I have a 88 chevy s10 tahoe 4x4. It has the isuzu 2.8L V6, and I've been having a oil leaking problem. Oil is leaking from the left side of the motor at the back of the valve cover down on to my trans and then on my exhast. I thought it was my vavle cover gasket, so I replace it but it still leaks. I got to think it may be my oil sending unit does any one know where its located are any other ideas of what it my be. thanks

i know on up to 87's it was down in the front on drivers side, but after 87 they switched to an in tank fuel pump, so i'm not 100% but i would say it most likely would be near the firewall on the lft side, but still on the engine

what exactly leaks is it a unit and how much would that cost? Do you think it will take very long to change? Thanks

I think your oil sending unit is bottom left engine, inside engine, where oil filter attaches to a separate 90 degree elbow that attaches to block bottom.

I had trouble once getting old filter off. Couldn't get filter wrench leverage enough in that tight space, so i tried banging edge of filter with long wood stick and hammer, then had to try hammering scredwriver thru side of filter and banging driver end to finally turn filter off.

After changing filter and oil it sprayed back and up from where oil filter elbow connects to block. it was ver yhard t osee as space to see very limited.

changing gasket between oil filter adapter and block solved that leak.

otherwise ... could you have rear engine main bearing seal leak ?

these are known to go espesicially if you don't keep engine oil at max or little above. i heard eralier models like mine don't get good oil flow to their and do better by keeping oil level 1/2 " higher then max.
