instant smoking paseo=- HELPPPPPPPP

sure willl apreciate some advice on this . 1992 paseo with 145,000 ,5 speed. bought it a few montrhs ago. it ran perfect. it did drip a little oil here and there. my mechanic changed timing belt.. few days later i ran the car hard thru 1,2,3 gears,close to red line. next day it smoked big time thru the exhaust.(light colored smoke). mechanic visited the house. it did not smoke for him. he said it is ok to drive it. i drove it ok for one day. then the next day it started smoking big time again. i hate to exchange the whole engine when it could be something small. what do you guys advise for this situation? thanks in advance for any help . signed =- jim in katrinaland. and no, the car was not a flood car.

Noticed you put your car up for sale. Did you ever determine what is wrong with it? Was it running hot? Is it burning a lot of oil? Other than smoking, how is it running?

car ran great.then i had timing belt and seals replaced. then i ran it hard. then it instantly started smoking big time.today on paseo forum we were just disCUSSING it.it still runs and drives. it is a very good car for the price of $600. firm.in new orleans area,but no katrina damage.
