Have results from compression test..sound pretty good.

Well, I performed the compression test today and here are the results from left to right. 160,157,155, and 170. The manufacturers limit is said to be 164...so whats up with cylinder 4? Would I have carbon buildup in this one?
Also when performing the test on cylinder 3 and only 3 did the my compression gauge make a funny hissing sound. I triple checked with other cylinders and it only did it in 3...Anything to worry about?
Thanks.
I guess these numbers really mean the car has 10K miles on it...It was fully rebuilt with new (OEM) pistons, rings, and everything. (I am saying this because I wouldnt think a engine with 190K miles on it would read these results.)

The 170 is odd. Did you test it again to see if it was a weird reading? Carbon build up can raise static compression, but I have no idea by how much, and with such low mileage on the motor it seems unlikely.
No idea on the hissing sound. Bad seat on the spark plug hole?

Or was the compression tester screwed in wrong? THat happened to me, it still got a reading, a bit low, but it hissed because the air was going out around the tester.

I screwed in the tester two different times into cylinder 3. something odd I did notice though was like the second time I did do the compression was, a visible "steam" (I doubt steam just looked like air vapors) was coming out of the side button (the one that releases the pressure)...it was visible only when I pressed the button to release the pressure though.

When I think back, I think I only tested once for this cylinder, I shall give it another go tomorrow
