on my hatch whenever i turn my wheel to the left about 60% of the way i hear a single click/pop noise, i can also feel it thru the steering wheel a little. Its not very loud, just loud enough to be noticed. What could it be?? I really dont know where to start on diagnosing this so some help would be greatly appreciated. Hopefully its just a loose screw or something -thanks alot!!

sounds like your cv joint is going out. this is a common thing that goes out on our cars. should be prolly close to $100 to fix.

or you could pay $20 for the boots adn do it yourself. its not that hard as long as you know hwat you doin. cv boots are that hard to replace, ive done it before myself
also check the boots on the steering. when you take your wheel off, look on the steering shaft and there is like a dust cover, and like the last 4 civics i worked on all of them had a busted dust cover or whatever that is, so i would check that and replace it if you need to. hopefully you know what i am talking about.
oh and if your replacing one of them might as well replace the whole side since you dont want the other one to rip a week later and you gotta do it all over again

dont even worry about buying a boot cuz if you hear the clicking noise already the cv joint is bad no sense in replacing the boot, today i changed my left axle and it only costed me 60 bucks for a whole new axle complete with new wheel spindle nut

Ok thanks everyone, would it be the left cv joint??? since it is making noise when turning left?? secondly do i go to honda to get a new CV joint?? or is there a cheaper way to get one?? civicHBsi91, u say that u replaced the whole left axle on ur car, i take it that the CV joint/axle comes together as one part??? or would they be separate?? -thanks again everyone!!!

I would just get a new axel. If you want to find which one it is go jack the car up and look behind each wheel and you will see a rubber thing, if it has crap leaking from it and is torn then that is your problem. And yes you should also check the ones for the steering, they are like slightly behind the tranny, shouldn't be too hard to find.

Re-man axles are $75 each from honda. boots are a waste of time if you got higher mileage. If your cars got any power you risk breaking axle some where down the road. Your better off replacing the axles. There might be a slight core charge
CV boots from honda run $65 a piece, its cheapier to do the axle & if you are paying labor 2hr for 2 axles & 4hr for 4 boots
