Im thinking get data log, but I think I have EPROM ECU, so I go ahead getting dsmlink, for now and later on. I check dsmlink.com,
1995-1999 (2G) Packages
V2 upgrade for existing V1 package order $50 + shipping
DSMLink V2 package, EPROM only order $565 + shipping
DSMLink V2 package w/socket service order $595 + shipping
So what do I need to order to run dsmlink, ( I think I have old laptop with window 98se some where ), any one have any forum that only talking about dsmlink ?. So I dont have to bring up all the noob question about dsmlink here. Thanks

You need to order this one.
DSMLink V2 package w/socket service order $595 + shipping
Well not sure if you can get into this or not but here you go, this is the official site for when you buy dsmlink you set up a username and PW for this site

This is a picture of mine when i had it done like 5 months ago and wanted to show it off a little  Here is what it comes with when you send your ecu out and get it back. The little black box you see is the stock chip, so if you ever sell car and want to keep link chip just put stock chip back in ;)

and if you have dsmlink chip, just replace that with stock chip right ? or have to send it out to mod again ?

Just replace with stock chip yourself, thats why they put a socket in, for a removable chip ;)

but only if you're really good at these small electronics stuff. There is still a possiblity of you breaking something while attempting to swap the chips. If you're not confident in your ability to do this, send it to dsmlink anyway.

ok i'm a little confused with this, i've been confused al the time,
i know i have eprom( i checked according to VFAQ) do i need to send my ecu to them? and the chip that they put, is it the one that keeps all the info that you give them when ordering(FI size, cas inverted and all that stuff)?
and i didnt send it can i still run link but i would have to have a laptop on the car al the time if the ecu looses power :screwy: .

I think you have to send out the eprom( the whole ecu thing ) to them, so they can burn what ever you told you are running on the phone ( ex. injector ), and send it back to you. With unmod factory chip ( I think that is your reginal ). And I really dont understand your second question is .

Yes you send the whole ECU to them. They remove the stock chip, and replace it with the DSMlink chip, and return the original chip back to you. The DSMLink chip has all the info you give them, and if you lose power while that chip is in the car, then the car reverts to the settings originally on the chip. This gives you time to get the car to a laptop and reload your tune. How did you not send your ECU in? I suppose you mean because your ECU was already socketed. If not, you need to send them your chip. Hell, even if it was socketed I would still send it in just because I trust their skill over mine obviously.

and no i do not have link or the cu socketed yet, i just didnt know what the whole deal was, i always thought that by having eprom ecu i was all ready to go,
thanks again, thats one of the reasons why i love this forum so much.
