What would be so bad about changing the rear anyways? Just head out to a junkyard and get yourself a 4th gen rear and that wouldnt be all that bad.
Also if you convert to manual, you have to not only get the transmission but also have to set up all the new lines that the manual trans needs.

i meant it was a bad idea to do a 2.8 to 5.0 conversion... its a LOT of work..and i guess it can be done but its probably cheaper to buy a 5.0 =)

So very true. One would have to replace the crossmember, exhaust, electrical, trans mounts if the trans moves back, radiator, fan shroud, many more parts. When you figure what your time is worth, its cheaper to go buy another car, unless you got such a deal on the parts and the car its going in.

Biggest motor that can go in there without some pretty majopr modifaction is a 3.4 and even then I think you will find that the cost and work involved did not equal the increase in performance. Force induction is probably your most cost effective increase that will yield somewhat impressive results.

i had a 92' rs but we couldn't get it running so i traded it for an 86' that ran with a 2.8 in it so i was just wondering if i could get a bigger engine in it... enen if i kept it an auto. could i get the 5.0 in there? thanks for all your inputs as well guys...
i traded camaros and gave him $75 so i jus want to maybe get some balls on this new car.. then later when i am older i can redo the whole thing and make it run with power.

it is WAY CHEEPER and less hassel just buy a v8 car. the best thing to do is to kit a turbo on it. or supercharger. I think they make a turbo for it.

i agree... but slapping a turbo onto a 2.8 that weights as much as a normal camaro with old internals doesnt sound too awesome @_@
