hi, new to forum and have a slight problem. I did a search on this and found a little info, but wondering if anyone could give me a little more advice. I have a 97 S10 2.2l 5-speed. I was having a 301code (#1 misfire) so I replaced wires, plugs with no luck so I changed the coil packs and that helped some. The problem still exists so I went to change the CPS but when I started to pull it out it wouldn't come out all the way. The o-ring is still attached to the CPS and I used wd-40 and twisted and pulled for 2 hours with no luck. The shaft is still intact with nothing broken so I tried to push it back in, but it wouldn't go in all the way. Should I "bump" the engine to move the crankshaft and just break the CPS and push the magnet into the engine and not worry about it?? I could move the CPS in and out about an inch. I tried pulling real hard and I could feel the magnet hitting the hole and not coming out. :banghead: This is a great forum and I'm glad to be a part.

I would avoid trying to break it if at all possible.

I had the same problem in my 96 s10, after i changed the plugs and wires the misfire code went away and i got the one for the cps, so i went to the dealer and got a new one and it fixed it, to get the old one out you do have to bump the engine a few times to line up the big notch to where the sensor is, and with a little bit of playing around with it, it should come out.
