I am also having this problem with cy crx. It has a b16 in it. It also has a short shifter. It does this when the RPM's are kinda high. My old crx had a d16 in it and it shifted fine untill I put on a short shifter. It then started to grind when I tried to shift at high RPM's. Is it the short shifter or what?

Yeah your synchros are going.. nothing you can do to stop it except some syncromesh oil.

You can try some GM Synchromesh, but really you probably need some new synchros. If you do get around to rebuilding the tranny, scuf up the cones with some 180 grit (use a flapper wheel)... it will help bite the synchro teeth. Also, get rid of the short shifter... it will only kill your trans faster.

a short shifter doesn't kill ya tranny. go to gear speed for the synchros they will hookya up. and until then just use gm synchromesh.

Short shifters are a leading cause of rapid synchro wear. And yes, Gear Speed does have a good selection... they were the ones that gave me the tip on scruffing up the cones. I've been using their carbon synchros in a number of trans for a little while now, good stuff.
