Numerous upcoming projects, so numerous questions

Going to be doing a few things to my 1997 Bravada.....Im going to be paying for it for the next year and a half, and Id like to get it in top shape. Have a few questions about each thing for you pros.

1. Interior "stop the rattle" project- Im going to pull the entire interior, and sound deaden both the actual truck, and all the panels. How do I go about getting the seat belt bolts out? They are big star heads, I cant seem to get them out with either an allen wrench or my 18volt drill.

2. Install new carpet- I had the famous rear washer fluid leak, my entire carpet from the hatch to the rear seats is soaked- been like that for over a year, so the carpet needs to be replaced. Wheres the best place to get carpet? Only place Ive found is stockinteriors.com

3. fix washer fluid tank- still leaks, i glued the pumps down, and put new rubber hoses from the pump to the factory hose, so I dont know where it would be leaking from. Things to check?

4. Upgrade mirrors to 1999+ edition. Anything special I need to know to do this?

So, in summary:
1. How do I remove the seat belts?
2.Any good sites for carpet?
3. Tips on washer fluid tank?
4. Anything special to know about mirrors?

1) The seatbelt bolt is actually a TORX screw. An Allen wont work so I am not sure what size it is but The Torx kits are available at any hardware store

2) If you have a 4 door (I dont think the Bravada's came in 2 door) then you have many more options than just the 1 website. 4 door carpet seems easier to find for some reason. Do a google search for carpet for a 99 Bravada/Blazer and see what ya get

When you change over the mirrors to the 99+ style, the electric plug from your 97 to the 99+ will not fit. You will have to cut the plug's off the old mirrors and do a splice job. I don't think the wire colors are all the same either. Some one on this board may know what wires go where on the power/ heated mirrors? Otherwise the mirrors bolt up with no problems...

Anyone know what size the Torx is? Id rather not have to buy the whole set.

Might as well buy the whole set considering theres random sized torx screws and bolts through out the blazer platform. Id assume between 45-55 im not 100% sure on that. I went to the local flee market and got a whole it for $15, it was impact rated to 350ft lbs. Then again i did manage to destroy the 45, 50 and the reducer. You can get a set at wally world for like 18, from stanley. AS for the interior dampening what kind are you going with mat, spray on. Check out secondskin. Im doing the thicker stuff for mine since i wanted to try a massive audio system. I tried dynamat on an older one and it wasnt that great.

EDIT- Look on ebay for the carpet ive found it for like 125 for mine, also jcwhitney and some others should have it.

Guess Ill be going to walmart tomorrow for the set then. Im not familiar with them, are they hand tools, or do I use them with my drill or what?
I too am gonna have a nice little :evillol: audio setup, the deadening will help with that, and with the ever present vibrations from the truck.
Found entirely new carpet for $210, so Ill probably go with that, or just buy the rear first, then the passenger area.

The set I bought from Napa (lisle is the manufacturer) works with socket/ratchet sets. The smaller sizes work with 1/4" drives, the larger sizes work with 3/8" drives. The set of 12 bits cost ~$20.00.

Yeah the stanley ones look like they crammed the torx bit in a socket, and put epoxy in it. Basic ratchet is all you need. For the rear of mine i just went to lowes and got some marine grade carpet, since the box im building covers almost the entire rear section it didnt have to be perfect and the quarter panel covers im making into firberglass panels for the amps.

#50 Torx and you'll probably need to use a 1/2" drive ratchet to get them out.

I had a resivoir tank (unrelated to automobiles) crack at the corners once when the pump sucked it empty and it tried to collapse on itself. I couldn't find a replacement so I just put epoxy over all the cracks and made a vent hole to keep it from happening again. It's worked fine ever since so as long as washer fluid doesn't corrode the epoxy... Having said all that might be best to just get a new tank from a recycler...

I found a tank, complete with pumps, for around $35. The thing is, I cant even tell where it leaks from- the tank itself doesnt leak (verified by filling it, and covering the pump holes).
I glued the rubber pieces that the pumps sit on into the tank, then glued the pumps into the rubber pieces. So those should be leak free.
I put little hoses onto the existing hoses (about 2" each) to make sure they werent leaking where they connected to the pumps. I glued around the edge of the hoses, and put duct tape on them.

The leak comes out from around the area under the tank, in front of the drivers side wheel. I guess the next thing to do is put longer rubber pieces over the hoses, as thats the only place I can think of that they would be leaking from.

#50 Torx and you'll probably need to use a 1/2" drive ratchet to get them out.


Im only finding the set in 3/8" sizes...

As long as its a t-50 you can use an adapter for the 3/8 ratchet. sears should have them in 1/2".
