Hey i was wondering what you guys would recommend for a pretty good set of headers and exhaust system.

I would recommend pacesetter 4-2-1 if you have 2.2 and 4-1 if you have 2.4 for the header, and you cant go wrong with magnaflow for the rest of the exhaust.

Pacesetter dosn't make a 4-2-1... they only make 4-1 for eco, 2.4, 2200... your only choice are engine, Painted or armor coated.

OBX makes the 4-2-1 for the 2200 but the stainless steel tubing they use is wicked thin and junk. I've seen one first hand. RKsport makes 4-2-1 for the 2.4 but your going to pay out the ass for it. I think they also make one for the eco.. but don't hold me to that.

Magnaflow parts are great quality, but if you get their circular straight through fart can style make sure you use a good size resonator. Other wise they sound like shit when you have an after market header.

or you could by 2 headers, and leave 1 in your garage, and when ppl say what you have you can say headers...and when they correct you, you can show them your second set...lol

got an idea, going ot go with a 4-1 and the seperate the pipes at the collector and run them into a second header that is streached out and then go with a 4-2-1 and get rid of the one and run two pipes to the back.

AKA headers and true duals.

Man i am immature

WTF??!?!?!?!!?! what is going on with thread direction here?

anyhow the pacesetter ceram coat is your best bang for buck. unless you've done a heavy amount of other tuning a 4-2-1 wont make any difference over a 4-1 and you're gonna end up losing some more low end on a 4-2-1 and that'll drive you insane if it's a daily driver. also the Pacesetter cat-back despite only costing me $300 cdn, every pic of a pacester cat-back has a resonator. the 2.4 system don't. it sounds good except between 3000-4500 rpm where it get's raspy and then up all you can hear is the WAI. a nice resonator will possibly go on mine if i keep the cav

Really? I had put a Pacesetter 4-1 on my 2.2 and that felt like alot of lost rear end pressure. Then again I also had the Rksport duals without a resonator and highflow magnaflow cat. But yeah, I noticed alot of lost pressure and the car just felt alot more weak, like the exhaust wasn't pushing the car, like the exhaust just ended after the header. I was set on never getting a 4-1 again now you got me panicing and I don't know what to do lol Please explain. :screwy:

Well I am waiting very patiently for my buddy chris to get his turbo up and running properly, but last night he told me the turbo is Shot ski, which is putting my car out of the RDFABS shop longer. The turbine is hitting the housing now, one of the other shop guys who isn't there anymore dropped the turbo on his a few months back and now that he's turn the car over, this issue has come up. So now were waiting on ATP to send us a rebuild kit for it. He's gotta get that thing torn apart, rebuilt and tuned by july 28th as we both have our main summer show on the 29th. Its gonna be close... I was hoping to have my exhaust installed and ready to rock in roll for this show, but thats not happening now. So here is how she sits now...

I have an optima Red top in there aswell, just can't see it in the photo.

dropped it? D'oh! if he started it, might want to check the veins on theturnbine and the housing for gouges, take it it's not a BB turbo. What is it anyhow? T03/T04? I take RD are making your charge piping. What sort of i/c you gonna run? HP tuners and some ford red or brown tops for injectors? actually, isn't yours TBI? how you gonna get round that?

Classicrocjunkie
07-18-2006, 09:22 PM
Well right now, he's got a turbonectics t3 turbo ( Not sure on specs)

http://f7.yahoofs.com/users/445cadfem326fd4db/916d/__sr_/2c93re2.jpg?phghZvEBkJSzat8X

... and running 96 grand prix GT injectors.

Me I am just throwing in for the time being Pacesetter 4-1 armor coated header, 2.5" high flow cat, 2.5" primary exhaust piping from header back to rear axle, then y-ing off into 2- 2" tubes for my dual exhaust over the trailing arm...We cannot get 1/4" incraments in the SS tubing we use, so technically when you split the exhaust into duals your suppose to down size the tubing by a 1/4"... so the best i can do is 2". So instead of the 2.25 inch all the way back, going larger primary and then downsizing to 2" and adding duals will make up for the loss in tubing size and look much better under the type J rear..

If it dosn't work, I'll just rip it all apart over the winter... ha ha. Also I won't be going turbo untill we get chris's car totally functional and i get the car paint job done and paid for. Which is what i am saving now for... ouch..

if you drop 1/2" it will probably give you a nice mellow sound the 2" should sound pretty good.

Derow69
07-19-2006, 07:48 PM
but if u y pipe your car wouldnt u be freeing up more flow and wouldnt u loss some torque and shit and maybe horse or am i just smoking to much shit

noshun
07-19-2006, 08:39 PM
it wouldn't really make that much of a difference back there and you wouldn't lose power. you could lose toque but not power, you would gain power, I would imagine this is more of a cosmetic exhaust than a go faster one or Cody would only use one muffler

Lances133
07-19-2006, 08:50 PM
Yeah I learned that the hard way. I'm planning on putting a Magnaflow crossflow, single muffler dual outlet that's for Srt4's on my Z when i get the cashola. Should be pretty shweet. Im hopin' anyway.

Classicrocjunkie
07-19-2006, 09:33 PM
yea its more for cosmetic appearance than anything. The whole go fast mobile went on the window when i bought wheels that weight 25lbs per wheel. I guess I am going into a phase where i would rather have more show and an overall better ride quality. I'll have my GTI someday but untill then I'll have this thing.

Honestly its best to just leave it out of the window, cops look for that shit. I got harassed in my PT cruiser since its a flordia car and didn't even have a bracket ( even though its under my driver's seat) i refuse to drill holes in my front bumper. But i got a warning since i daily drive a granny cruiser. I just threw it in my glove box and called it a day. I also refuse to put one in the front of my cav, its on the passenger side floor of that car. For all the cops knows it could be an outta state car with no plate on the front... ;)

my99cavy
07-20-2006, 02:52 PM
well see technially in the state of illinois you have to have a font mounted license plate. i really dont like the look of a plate on the front so i thought i could get away with it being in the windshield where they could see it. it was only until a state trooper came into town (well actually it was like 20 of them in town for one nite) that i got stopped. the city cops could give to shits about it. its the damn state cops that like to bust balls.

Come to NY.. We have the second worst car inspection BS to deal with next to California. If you have any CE lights, you fail or if you have any stored codes in your computer... you fail. It also use to have only a 10 day window to get the inspection done. But all the shop mechanics bitched enough and they threw that out the window. But still your car is critiqued for an hr to find things wrong. Unless you know someone... ;) Then it only takes 5 mins and 10 bucks on the side.
