broke a bolt helpp pleeeeeasee

today i installed my springs.. i got done with the front then it was time to work on the back springs... i removed the monunting bolt that is attached to the lower end of the shock absorber to the lower arm... i guess i put too much tension on the mounting bolt and broke it... now a piece of the bolt is stuck inside of the trailing arm.. does ne one have an idea how to take it out beside hammer and chisle it???

I'm not really pictureing the problem...you might want to get some pics so everyone will know whats going on....

if youre lucky you can just hammer it out, like you said. although i, along with many others have had a similar problem, the bolt was rusted inside. in which case you wont be able to just knock it out. i dont know what others did, but i just had it welded out and slid a new bolt in.

ahh yes, the infamous problem with the rear lower shock bolts on honda's. I just did mine on my civic, and I found out the hard way by my car sitting on jack stands for a week, waiting for parts to come in from the dealer, specifically the rear lower control arm bushings 22.00 a a piece, and bolts which were 12.50 each. I dont know exactly what kind of vehicle you have, but on the civics there is a 3/4'' nut welded to the lower shock mount, and then there is a 10/18 bolt that goes through the shock and to that nut. I sat on those 10/18 bolts with an impact for about 5-10 minutes and the damn things wouldnt budge, so i took a 7 foot pipe on a breaker bar and ended up fucking the bushing up cause the bolt was rust welded into the bushing. So eventually i had to cut both bolts with a cut-off tool and grinder, and that let me get the shock out, then i had to take the control arm off to press in new bushing. So the moral to this is, if the bolt is broken off inside the bushing I dont think you will be able to get it out with a hammer and chisel, your best bet is to cut the bolt and bushing sleeve from the insides and get the shok out of the way. Then you will probally have to get new bushings and bolts of course, pop the control arm off and press in new bushings, most garages will press in the bushings for you for little $$..

i had the same problem too. i got to the point that i had to cut the bolt and remove the knuckle. i took it to a shop to press the bushing out, and press a new one in. it cost me like $40 plus a new bolt from honda($7.50)
