OK as you all may know i recently purchased a 5zigen axel back exhaust. Well it turned out to be LOUD and RASPY as HELL!!! i mean really loud. I hated it. i was embarresed to drive my car. But as of 2pm today i can now not even tell i have an aftermarket exhasut. It is just barely louder than exhaust....i mean barely! what did i do??? I had a Cherry Bomb glass pack installed!!! you know those ugly red tubes that 4x4 put on there trucks to get loud..... well i painted my silver and had it installed about a foot after my cat.... it is now the quietest aftermarket exhasut i have EVER heard..or not heard..LOL
edit: oh and the total cost to me was $49.99. $19.99 for the cherry bomb, and $30.00 to have it installed.

you know what sucks, is when you put on a brand new muffler because the old one fell off(Brospeed) and the new muffler sounds awsome and very quiet for a month, then it gets all loud and raspy, well thats what i get for a new 50 dollar chrome muffer i got off the net...i guess the more i broke the muffler in, the more it got louder.

A buddy of mine has a glass pack on his civic and it sounds like crap. He said that it used to sound good but after a while the tone changes.

glass packs are hella tight, back when I had the MG we had 2 of em right off the header, one near the front, and the other one right by the back, and it sounded tight as hell, and that car was so deep that I set off car alarms as I drove by people, or anytime I was in a parking garage.

yeah, you for sure need a pre silencer on if you don't want that raspy sound. My magnaflow cat back for my 2001 came with the presilencer and it is the quietest exhaust around. the pre silencer makes it sound nice and throaty (4 banger throaty anyway)

YES! the "fiber stuff" on the inside wear out and it sounds like puke. the hatch had a worn one when i bought it. the sad thing is the driver was all excited about it's sound. :(
BUT, Travis, don't sweat it. you only drive your car in the summer. your pack will probably last you 4 years :) no worries
