SS/SC Vs. G35

This happend a couple days ago and I've been a bit too lazy to post about it, but I've got some extra time at work now, so here it goes.
I'm heading back home from getting some Panda (Orange chicken FTW) when I cruise by a very nice, black G35 with 4 doors. I looked over and expected to see a mid 40's man or woman driving but I was surprised to see a guy in his early 20's or so with his hat one sideways. He looked over and noticed the Cobalt, but there were no indications of a race, so I just drove on to the next red light. As I reached the light I moved over from my lane to get in the lane with the least amount of cars and to get away from the semi that was ahead in my current lane. He had somehow ended up in the lane with the semi as well and was behind me and followed my move to the short line.
The red light turns green and traffic takes off normally and as soon as the car ahead of me overtook the semi, I made a jog to the right into a nice open lane with no cars ahead for a mile. The dude in the G35 match my move and ended up next to me, once he did this I knew he was pursuing for a run. He paced me for a bit, blipping the throttle a couple times and I did the same. We both managed to read eachother fairly well and mashed our throttles nearly simultaneously. We started off at about 60 mph and I was in the bottom of 3rd, sitting next to him waiting for some power to kick in. Finally I hit about 4,000 rpm and started a nice steady pull which he couldn't stop.
6,000 revs come and I flick the tranny into 4th gear and at this point I've got about a length on him. I held 4th for a few moments before I saw an accident at the intsection ahead a little over 1/4 mile away and a bunch of blue and red flashing lights. At this point I deemed it wise to shut the car down and end the run. As I did I looked back to see the G35 about 1 1/2 cars behind, and then in an instant he was about 5 ahead...I hit the brakes pretty hard.
I managed to get back next to him to give him a nod and a wave and he returned it with a big grin. Cool guy at least and a good run. Although, a true 350z would have made for a more exciting run.

Nice kill man:grinyes: I would've expected that though. I actually would think that if you guys would've raced to faster speeds you would've smashed him even harder. I raced a coupe in my evo on the freeway and pretty much abolished him.

Yeah, in Japan they have the Nissan Skyline 350GT which is sold over here in the USA as the Infinity G35. Much like the Nissan Silvia and 240SX, same car just marketed different in these two markets.
Some people just like to rebadge their cars to be JDM or beacuse they think it looks cool and unique??, kinda like badging a Acura RSX as a Honda Integra.

Yes, you will obliterate even a fairly moddified 350Z.

Nice race. Your lucky you looked at the upcoming intersection.
I never race through intersections, I always slow down to legal speeds before I enter one. I'm just glad I noticed there were cops in it and before it before I got close enough for them to realize what was going on. I was about 350 yards away when we shut down.

yea, but sometimes you don't know where they're hidden, alot of races i've shut down like 1 sec later a cop pops up out of nowhere. it still freaks me out.

The new/current Skylines are all N/A from the factory everywhere they are sold, there is no GT-R or any turbo version for that matter. But don't fret, thats what the new 2007 Nissan GT-R is for.

Heh, I know what you mean. But for me it's always me wanting to race some car I see, but then don't end up commiting to the race because of unfavorable conditions. Then 10 seconds later a cop is driving down the road exactly where I would have been doing the run, had I actually raced.
Sends a shudder down my spine ever time that happens. Good thing is that they havent shown up on the real ones...yet anyway.

totally man, same stuff happens to me. i remember this one day i raced a 1st camero rs, and the second we shut down to a light, we look to our right and there's a cop sitting there looking for speeders, after a near heart attack, we had a good laugh.

Yes, proper sentence structure is the difference between helping your uncle Jack, off a donkey and helping your uncle Jack off a donkey.

Ha, lovers spat... no... I invited him down to go go-karting, he comes down, soon as he gets in town, he goes and hangs out with some other people and fails to call me till it's like, nearly midnight.
I'm a little pissed cause I'd been waiting all day for him, literally, most people I wouldn't wait all day but since he doesn't have a cell phone I can't call and see where he's at.... anywho... he senses I'm pissed, and goes go-karting without me with the folks he hung out with.
Haven't talked to him since.

Dude, that is a lover's spat! My g/f does that exact same shit to me all the time. Except she does have a cell phone, but just chooses not to call me.
That's also a little dick on his part. For shame TV.

I know that exact feeling. Hell, yesterday I was oding a high end run down this empty back stretch thats pretty flat and straight, and then went back on my way of running errands. Turned down the exact same street no more than five minutes later, and a cop had two cars pulled over. The speed limit on that street is 40, and I was doing about 110/115...I saw that cop with those guys pulled over, and was like...oh fuck me...

I think you would have gotten a better run out of one of the six speed G35 coupes. I want one of those so bad, black, no spoiler, and the bronze Nismo wheels...sexy. Otherwise good kill, that VQ is an amazing engine, and has by far one of the sexiest exhaust notes of most any car out there today.

I agree, depending on the year of the G35 the sport coupe makes as much as 40 more hp than the sedan.

I never really got a real chance to see if it was a manual or auto, but I think it's safe to say it was an auto.
