Black Engine

I am just about to purchase myself a BMW 3 series. I am told the one I showed interest in has a black engine but failed to explain what a black engine is. Could someone please help me with understanding what a black engine is?:banghead:

Thats usually the way unfamiliar car people describe the engines. The 6 cylinder's have a lot of black plastic over them, where as the 4cyl have a lot of silver.

Its the ultra rare S54 black top, not to be confused with the even ultra rarer S54 red top...

Its a joke...ya know, haha, funny funny...I was making fun of the red top and black top SR20DETs. Never mind.

Does that mean some of the engine parts are made of plastic? What happens when your engine heats up after spending a long while in slow moving traffic?:bananadie

they are talking about the pieces that lay over the valve cover and the fuel rail that are black with white lines sporting BMW in big letters on the cover for the valve cover these 2 pieces are hard durable plastic no worries and also the intake is hard durable plastic never no worries.Hope this helps.
P.S. also u can get those 2 pieces in carbon fiber if thats ur thing heh.
