I posted recently what all of the characters in the NGK plug stand for. I went through all that recently when selecting plugs for the EVO, but more on that later. I'm not running a non-projected 8 heat range plug, and I'm positive that it saved my motor last week. For some reason my first pass at the track with the settings from my last dyno pull gave me 13.0:1 air fuel ratio, through all 4 gears, with the turbo completely maxed out (no wastegate). I am certain I would have lost the motor on regular 6 or 7 projected plugs. USually what happens to me is the plug breaks apart and ruins the motor. The BR8ESs looked completely unaffected by this little mishap :) No fouling or anything yet either after 3-4 weeks of daily driving the 8s.
Plus selection really is more important than most poeple give credit for.
