As I've said before...Just bought a 99 LTZ (64K). I've noticed that when I am on the highway running between 55 and 70 that occasionally my car seems to jerk or shudder. It's really hard to describe. The tach starts jumping back and forth between like 2 and 3K rpm (for example) I know everything's electronic, so maybe it's just trying to shift into the next gear. I've checked the tranny fluid, it's good and red (of course). I don't know what else to look for on here. Any help would be appreciated as always.

I assume you mean 2-300, not thousand....that would be snapping your head off your neck...
It sounds like torque convertor lockup shudder to me....or it's hunting in and out of overdrive for some reason...

Maybe I exaggerated a little! The needle on the tach moves up and down between the 2 and 3. It just feels like it doesn't want to shift or something. This car is new to me so I don't know the mph's at which this transmission would normally shift gears. On my 93, I can easily tell when it's going to switch to the next gear. I always use overdrive...should I not use this gear on the highway? Thanks again.

maybe I exaggerated a little! :) I just know that it seems to jerk a little and the tach bounces between the 2 and 3. I was in overdrive on the highway when I noticed this. I can't tell if it's trying to switch to the next gear and I'm going just slow enough that it won't, or what. I know with my 93, it's easy to tell when it's going to switch gears. Thanks again.

no, overdrive is what you akwyas should use unless on hill roads, and major stop and go for long distances to keep the torque converter from locking up and unlocking. Does this sound like and issure with the TCC Solonoid not fully enguaging jeff?

Usually lockup only affects engine rpm by a couple hundred...a 1000 rpm spread sounds more like it's hunting for overdrive...there could be something wrong there, but if it was an upshift solenoid, it would probably code on it...
I dunno...let's see what Richtazz has to say...

should I try to pull a code??

*yet another dumb question from gw84*** I don't understand what you mean when you say a couple hundred rpm spread. The guage shows rpm's X1000, how do you read it in hundreds. Does that mean the needle just moves a small amount within each one thousand? I think that's what happens to my car. Wow I'm confused
