Quad Drivers Module Question

I've recently ran across a trouble code that indicates the quad driver module, and after searching through the forum, I found very little that addresses this code. One thread addressed the evaporator purge solenoid, and stated that that was what the module had to do with. Researching further, I found it described as the ECM controlling 4 different modules; the egr valve,, probably the evap purge solenoid, TCC? (don't know what it is), and maybe another? If this code comes up (in my case code 26 on a 93 Olds Achieva) it seems one would have to check all of these components or sensors. If anyone could tell me what triggers this or if it's important to the performance of the car, I would much appreciate it. I've searched the net and there is not much info on the quad driver module. One minute my car runs like crap (gotta put the pedal down to go 35; engine is sporratic and RPM's are hi; no power) and the next minute it runs fine. I'm not sure but I'm wondering if it might be a problem with a sensor or module or the ECM itself. The ECM in the car now looks like it came from a salvage yard. Any info on this would be appreciated greatly.:)

The quad driver has 4 outputs that controls various elctromechanical devices. Normally there are at least two quad drivers controlling 8 devices. The quad driver is part of the PCM/ECM module. Because of the possibility of a solenoid to short internally, the quad driver is the internal protection to prevent damage to the PCM/ECM.

Code 26 is very common with a quad driver failure. It could be one of several relays, sensors or solenoids or even the PCM. However, normally the faillure is caused by one of the devices controlled and not the quad driver.

It could be A/C relay, coolant fan relay, EGR valve solenoid, evaporative purge solenoid, TCC solenoid, etc. Basically you will need to troubleshoot the respective electrical component(s) in any of those given circuits. To start I'd check into the EGR valve.

well this topic might just save me... i have a 1992 acheiva with a 3300 which runs great when cold but after running about 10-15 minutes(after warmup) it just dies so i waited for it to cool off and i hooked my scanner up to it and ran it and i had a list of Quad driver 1-2-3-4 1 and 2 were reading bad while running and when it stalls 3-4 also goto bad so any help would be appreciated oh and... i check fuel pressure and thats great but i have no spark after it died no spark on any coil at all so its very fustrating (any help is appreciated) thank you
