Wetsanding...

I just painted with Shimrins kandy paint.. and had to wetsand and this is how it turned out...
Hood picture is before I wetsanded..
Roof is after. .I know you all will see the differenced

What is wetsanding? I know it polishes up the paint but what do you do?

You sand with wet sand paper, hence the name, wetsanding.

oh, thanks. I always thought you spray it with water and sand mixed in, but then that'll be concrete. LoL.

I've never heard off wetsanding, is it for sanding or for polishing ?
Does it scratch?

Take 2000 grit or finer sand paper, soak it in water (usually a little dish soap is good too) and lightly sand the paint to smooth out imperfections. i.e. orange peel. You have to be extra carefull around edges, you might burn through the paint. That's what wet sanding is. Helps get a nice smooth finish.

so it would be good to do this on maisto?

I would do it on maisto.. I have done it to every diecast car that I have.. even the Ertl Authentics 85 monte carlo.. Even factory paint jobs could use a little smoothing out and polishing.. When I get back on monday.. i will take a picture of the polishing compound that I use.. dont do it by hand tho.. use a polishing wheel for the dremel. or you will get minor swirl scratches.

Using the polishing wheel for the dremel is a debatable thing, if you are gentle and wax afterwards, polishing by hand will not leave swirl marks. Using the Dremel leaves you at risk of burning through the paint.

havent had a problem with burning through the paint.. you just have to be careful with how much pressure

Im with Ray on this one, a dremel is much to fast. Its a bit of a luck of a draw. Some factory diecast paint is strong enough, but I'd never try it on something I've rebainted. If I wanted to buff it with a machine, I'd use a buffer which spins much slower. But even that is unreasonable for a model.

Well all I am saying is that.. My dremel has the speeds 1-6.. I do it at 1 or 2. with little pressure. I have wet sanded and polished over 15 diecasts cars and have never had a problem. and over half of them were repaints that I did. But you guys can take whoevers advice.. if you dont want mine.. then dont take it.. I was just saying from my experence that has never happened to me.
