(thats all hp) I kno the 3kgt is heavy and all but how should I be launching this car off the line? I really dont wanna screw up lose to one of these guys and make my car look bad- So any tips or tricks for the automatic launchers would be greatly appreciated.... thanks guys

hold in the brake, give gas and let the revs climb a little bit then let off the brake, probably at around 2000-2500 rpm. it's probably not great for your brakes or tranny to do all the time, but once in the blue for a race probably won't be too detrimental.

you have an ATX 3/s... my suggestion for you is to take them from a role, becuase according to other 3/s members, that ATX 1st gear is god awefully slow.

I usually power brake to about 2k-2.5k, roll off the brake and mash the gas at the same time...works fine for me.

Yeah, just power brake it a little (hold the brake and rev up to 2000rpms, let go of brake mesh gas immidiately)
make sure you do it quick though, Dont hold the rev. In other words dont sit there with your foot on the brake and revs holding!
Do it for a split second right before the launch and it wont damage a thing.

Also make sure to keep the OD on so you hit all your gears and turn the PWR button on so it peaks to redline. You'll be fine bro, they are a tad slower but not slow!
youll take them easy.

Fusion? pfftt, even if it had 300hp its a POS!

Mush man, OD off, and I think it's an ECONOMY button ain't it??? If there's an economy button, just turn that sucker off 2.

while i expect the fusion to lose, why is it a peice of shit?

edit- oh yeah the v6 is 221hp not 210, the car runs a mid to high 15 1/4mile according to msn autos. soon there will be a turbo AWD version. also soon the v6 engine will be the 255hp 3.5l, as ford is going to switch away from the duratec to this new engine.

actually the O/D is 4th gear, without it you'll hit rev limiter in 3rd. I miss that power button, there was one in my diamante being they are the same car just different bodies.

Alrite so far ive learned

-Overdrive ON
-Power On -(instead of econ)
-Power brake Til 2/2.5k
-Slam down gas
-Sport/Tour?? Not sure it matters but Sport sounds better :)
-Destroy Opponite
-Piss on there car/take there money

thanks everyone

No no, you want the Overdrive clicked off, for the most part it probably won't make a lick of difference in short races, but if you were to say race somebody up to 70-80 (or whenever 3rd gear would come to an end), the transmission might not hold 3rd gear long enough even at WOT and shift up with O/D on.

Having it off, it won't shift into O/D, you'd have to activate it once you got to the top of 3rd gear if you wanted to attempt to go any faster. (Most cars can't/won't pull top speed in top gear.)

Also, depending on your transmission, switching O/D off might activate some form of sport mode where it may hold the gears longer and offer faster shifts. I don't know 3000GT's very well, so I can't say for sure on that.

Other than that, you've got it pretty much down.

Bwahahahahahaha. 3rd gear on a ATX 3/S will take you to about 130 mph. That leaves you one more gear left. Basically everything that has been said I can agree with. To be honest, your best bet would be starting at about 30 mph while holding it in 1st gear. The ATX will really shine at the top of first gear and almost all through 2nd (ATX). For a 3.0L n/a it really has nice top end power IMO.

man, super tall gearing... no wonder they're slow 0-60. Still, nice highway car though... can't complain about that.

^^i've said that a million times. If I try and take someone its usually going to be on the highway because of such tall gearing. Just like the Mazda 6 kill........

Yeah, you want Overdrive off, its kinda like the fifth gear for the manual version, you'll never use it racing unless your doing well over 125. With OD off the transmission wont switch into this last gear, therefore holding your revs longer in your lower gears, which will result in you holding the max power longer.

what kind of mazda 6? 4 cyl or v6? the fusion is almost the same thing, it has the same engines and is built on the same platform. that would give good insight into what the race might turn out like.

leave o/d off. trust me on this. on my 'top end' run i ended at 128 in my sentra. wouldn't shif5t outta 3rd unless i turned O/D on. i turned it on, and i was owned by the throttle cutting from the speed governor. i doubt you'll personally take it past 80mph, but if u do, keep the O/D off. idk how the 3k gt does its speed limiter stuff, but that might help. it would also help to have ur car warmed up for about 10-15 min as well.

what? lol. from a dig thing i dont think you would take it past 80 or so. but then the 3k gt has pretty good aerodynamics i guess compared to a lot of cars, so top ending would be the way to win....

My advice to you is to take what you have learned here and practice it a few times so it will come first nature to you. If you go from a stop, do what everyone else said, hold in the brake and hit the gas and let it hit the stall which is 2200rpm. Then let of the brake and GO! And yes, make sure OD is off. If you go above 130, just click the button back to OD on at 130. Otherwise it will shift at 120 and it will drop below the power band. I was testing my car out last nite and in second it was shifting into 3rd at 80 at abot 6100 rpm and it was in PWR. So you might just want to hold it in 2nd until about 85-90, That always works for me. Also, is the cougar modded? Because the v6 only has like 170 hp stock.

To Chiquaue (or however you spell it): 3kgt's do not have speed limiters. And as for shifting points. I usually just flip the pwr switch on and let it do the work. However when I do that it usually takes it to 6,800k rpm's. Dont try holding it to the redline either, just not worth it IMO.

Put it into neutral, rev it to about six thou, then yank it into drive. I've heard this makes for a good launch, I think I'll go try it out now.

ROFL^^ Just like the Rx-8 you raced....but hey!..he did see it on TV so it has to be true.

Stang00: The Mazda I raced was the V6 I'm 90% sure.

One time I saw a rabbit drop a two ton anvil on a hunter and the hunter survived. I love TV. Not to be confused with VD. I don't love VD. I love TV. And extreme rabbits.
