You wouldn't believe....on second thought, lol yea, you would. This Silverado was a fucking monster man. I was heading home from a small meet from outside of Houston, and I spot this Silverado with a motor that screamed pasted me when I was taking a u-turn. Unbelievable, I had a hard time catching up with him, but when I did, it looked like a 02-03, or something. When I'm passing him up, he was giving me that "I'm hungry for ricers look", I smiled of course and proceed to gun it, I get a jump of 2 cars on him, then, I hear that loud V8 roar, and this was over my loud music, I heard that engine clearly dude. ZOOM, I was 2 bus lengths behind this beast doing my best to shorten the span of my spanking, I reach 110 and we shut down, traffic got heavy in like 2 seconds. Well...lol this is my first truck that I've lost to. Ain't it grand guys? :iceslolan

yup, theres some sick ass trucks out there. I played around with a Turbo Diesel the other night. I took him lightly and didnt go all out, he almost got me! had it not been for a quick down shift back to the prior gear I woulda posted a loss to a truck as well.
Good loss man and props for posting it, most guys only post kills but its fun to read the deaths too.

sorry, i'm a little ignorant to most terms, what is FI?

FI is Forced Induction i.e. Turbocharged or Supercharged. More than likely could have been. Not too many bolt-on trucks can do that, unless that is they are in fact equiped with some means of FI.

Yeah it happens to everybody, at some point or another you run into a truck that takes you completely by surprise.
Edit: That's assuming you have an srt4, if you only have a neon, I wouldn't be too surprised.

My understanding is that he has a regular ol' Neon, which in that case, this wouldn't be all that suprising.

I was once dusted by a Lightning. I wish I could say it was a close race, but really it wasn't.

In my celica I got beat by an avalanche that had a supercharger and was owned by a professional racing team, It was close up to 3rd by the celica just couldnt do it any more. Sadly enough I tried 3 times on three different nights at the same street and at the same time. I only lost by about 2.5 cars so it wasnt too bad.

The Avalanche comes with the 5.3L, which has 295hp, 330lb-ft. If it was supercharged, then you're looking at a 40-45% increase in power. That'd put it at 400-420hp.

Stock the Avalanche would do 0-60 in 8.8, 1/4 mile in 16.6. With 400+hp it'd have to be in the 14s easy. Heck, the Silverado SS does it in 14.8 with only 345hp. Of course there's an 800lb difference between the two, but the Avalanche would have a huge torque advantage over the SS.

Anywho... you say your Celica ran a 15.6 with mods... I'd say the S/C'd Avalanche would of walked all over you despite it's hefty weight.

Infact, stock for stock your Celica GT and Avalanche would be a drivers race. They both run similar times, Celica GT 0-60 8.4, 1/4 mile 16.5.

It's funny, if i didn't get the neon, i would have had a honda. I was looking at alot of hondas before i ended up with the neon. I had my eyes on a hatch but the little dealer that was selling it was trying to screw me for the price. Now I have neon :)

sorry bout not answering your question. basically, the only thing i did to it was remove that box from inside the fender. i'm trying to get a job right now because i really want to mod this car. yea it's the car in the pic, it's my baby, and i have a couple of repairs i need to do before the modding begins, the first on my list that i want to get is CAI, performance headers, and a magnaflow exhaust system, after i'm done with that, i'll see what else i can do with the engine, but i may have to rebuild since it has 140K+ miles on it. i may rebuild the engine first.

Its cool, I have time. In this case, I'm not to suprised. My understanding is that most trucks, from the factory, with the bigger motors are very very very low 16s (like, 16.1) to low (15.2/15.3) 15 vehicles. All that torque and what not. I've had a few runs with trucks, and I've often been suprised on how quick they could be.

hey, have you heard of the autometer cluster gauge? about it estimating 0-60 time, and 1/4 mile time, also giving you dyno like numbers for your car's hp/tq? is that true, are those numbers legit? if it is, i'm getting it to baseline my car and test it with each new upgrade i get for the car.

Most of those things are jut general guesstimates. The only real way to know what you run in the 1/4 and figure out what you put down at the wheels is to go to a track and a dyno. Some of them can get close, but eh.

Trucks suck! Mine is still stuck in the 11s, and I busted a fresh 4l60e destroying yet another modded Lightning the other night. He almost beat me on the third pass when I lost third gear. Too bad I was only playing with him on motor. :evillol: I should have done one pass on him with the 150 shot just to prove a point. :grinyes: Damn I need to post those vids soon!!!!

Just to give a heads up.......We put a magnaflow muffler only single cab stepside 5.3L (2001 model) to a 14.8 the other night. Too bad he didn't have a tune, because the speed limiter kept on shutting his truck off. This was on the 26" drag radials.

We put on some long tubes and did alittle tuning and it went 14.3. Not too shabby for a header/tune/muffler truck.

I've kinda put it on the backburner for alittle while. The camaro is getting a dynomouth exhaust and alittle something something I'm not going to disclose on the board. Let's just say its a hell of a money maker!

We've decided to go with a built TH400 with the shifter in the floor, 3600 stall, and trans brake. To hell with all of this electronic tranny crap. :evillol:

The fresh tranny is getting rebuilt under warrenty, then its going in the SS with the fuddle converter. I'm getting it reflashed to 3200 for daily driver use from the 3800 it came at.

As for the mods I ordered for the car. Keep your eyes open for future pics/vids. :naughty:
