A few days ago i put back my ICP and 1g BOV because i sold my hard ICP and my type rs BOV to make some money and go FMIC,but this sunday i took my car to the track and i ran low 16's, which sucks because last time i was allready runing 15.5 on stock ICP and 1g BOV, and only 2 psi more and i started looking arround the engine bay and i removed the recirculation pipe and i found out that my bov is always open, even at idle (800), when i step on the gas and starts boosting it just holds back, like the turbo spools up and boost goes up but no power. and the bov now has this wierd noise. is not the crispy whoosshhh. now it's like little kitten.
But my question is, is the bov suppossed to be oppen all the time? or is it time to get a new one?

From my understanding... the bov should only open when you let off the gas. If the valve where it would normally recirculate is always open then I would say you have a major ass boost leak back into your intake.

No it's not supposed to be open all the time. Under boost it's supposed to be close to allow the boost to pass through the pipes. As soon as you left off the gas/shift it opens to release the excess boost in the pipes. So if it is staying open you definately need to get a new one.

It will be open at idle if idle vac is strong enough to open the BOV against the spring pressure. Is this is in fact usually the case, and is why you shouldn't be running your BOV to atmosphere. ;) About the change in sound, hard to say. If it is adjustable you may have to adjust it. What BOV is this again? "type rs" is meaningless to me.

No i'm not venting, i just removed it to see what was going on, and it's the 1g bov, i stopped using it for about 3 months i think.
what would make the vac pressure strong? high idle? so i guess i'll just get me a new one they arent expensive, cause i just scored me an ebay FMIC for 237 shipped.

Niceee one on the fmic. That is the same fmic that I and a few others have. If you don't know already... It will not bolt directly up. There are at least 2 threads on installing the ssautochrome fmic(we had a group buy not to long ago) Sorry, off your thread topic but, I thought I would tell you now. I don't have the links for the threads but just search for them.

It's not that your vac is too high, my point was that the BOV is behaving exactly as it should ;) Especially a 1g BOV. As long as it is staying closed under boost it won't affect WOT performance.

BUT Keeevv, it doesn't go WOOOOOSH any more
Here is my 10 cents, whenever you are having these kind of problems, go back to the basics. Do a leak test first.

LMAO, you just reminded me of my exwife. I'm not sure yet how I feel about that, but we'll deal with it later. So, I ran a RFL for a while in the 2g, and she liked it. When I swapped the 1g unit back on after I got sick of the constant and incurable leaks, she said in her busted half brazilian portugese broken ass engleesh, "Where's my POOOSH!?" One of the most quoted Portuglish comments she ever made. See, it's not all hatred and regret, there are some good memories...

:cwm27: SLOL @ POOOSH!
I run a turbo xs, non-rfl. I bought it before I found the net and learned that VTA is bad. I didn't notice any problems with it though, I have had too many other problems to notice if there are leaks :icon16:
