99 grand am probs

i have a 99 grand am se and the service engine light came on. had the code read and it said... evap control leak(small) or something to that extent. was wondering what it was and where it was. and is it easy to fix.. though i know the answer on any gm car is noooo

Sometimes its an easy fix other times its not.
Usually its the gas cap wasnt tightend or it needs replaced. You can pick up a good locking gascap for about the same as on that doesnt lock, $12-15.
IF that doesnt fix the code(po440 or 442 which ever it was) then get under the back end and check all the hose clamps on the fuel lines, fill neck and at around the gas tank.
Over time they can become loose(due to drying out hoses) and then it'll trip the P0442.
If nothings foumd loose there, you might hav to take it in to a shop that has a smoke machine, and or better diagnostic equipment to locate the leak.
