Exhaust

I've got a 1995 Camaro with a 3.4 V6. I recently cut the cat out of it, and installed a 40 series flowmaster. When I rev it, it makes a popping type sound (which to me is very annoying). Is there any way to lessen the pop or stop it altogether?

Thats pretty commen to have resonating noise/popping once removing the cat. A ignition system might help a little but to get it to go away like before you need to increase the backpressure.

It was always there vaguely before with the stock exhaust on it, any ideas on creating backpressure in the exhaust?

Put a cat back on.

Or you could put a potato in the exhaust pipe.

put a magnaflow on!!!!!!!! Blowmaster sucks on a v6, my dad had one on his 94 3.4 camaro and it was all stock performance wise but he had a 40 on it and it poped all the time!! sounded like crap. Just get a magnaflow catback, or just the muffler.

You could try a resonator. But odds are that pop will always be there. It's the notorious rasp the 3.4's create. Mines got it too, and yeah I really hate it. If you absolutely MUST rev your engine, the only way I've found to lesson that rasp when you rev it is slowly lift your foot up off the gas when you rev it (or in other words, decelerate it), almost as is you were "un-revving it."
