98 slt a/c question=

1998 dakota slt, v/6 sprung a leak of freon under the dash board. mechanic says about $800. to fix it down here in southern mississippi. any advice will be appreciated.

If it is under the dash it is probably the evaporator, the local pars place here it is about $110. Unfortunatly it is about 5-6 hours to put it in. The whole heater-A/C assembly has to be removed from under the dash. I did mine last summer and it is not to bad of a job just time consuming.
