I have a 95 Ciera SL 3.1 that while driving will cut out completly. I'm talking everything cuts out, no lights, no hazards, no instruments, no power to anything, its like someone has disconnect the battery while im driving. I have a new battery, checked all connections to battery, alternator, starter and everything is good and tight no corrosion on anything. Battery is putting out 12vdc. I have looked at a wiring diagram for this car and after looking at it alot of this points to the EMC. I have checked the connections ast the EMC and it looks good too. No corrosion and good connections. Am I going in the right direction with this? Another reason I'm looking at the EMC is that I can disconnect the battery overnight and in the morning reconnect it and the car will start and run fine? Something is resetting, just don't know what. Please help.

Welcome to AF. This is typical of battery or chassis/engine ground problems, start there and do not assume tite is good, take em off clean em up and look close for corrosion in the cable ends everywhere.

I once had a Monte Carlo where the negative battery cable completely corroded from the inside out. You could not tell because the plastic insulation
covered the problem area and both ends of the cable looked OK. This drove me nuts for about 2 months before I solved it. In my case everything went dead when you stepped on the brake pedal. Inspect your cables and their connections very closely. Good Luck!

friend had a similar problem, his solution was get a big black battery cable from walmart, and bolt it from the battery straight to somewhere on the engine, and then from there somewhere on the body, i think this was a crude idea, it worked, but i wouldnt suggest it, try replacing the one that goes to the body of the car, and if rust has takin over that part on the body, maybe find another spot to bolt it to, but be careful so you dont short anything out
