Well ive been forced to go back to my infinity reference 4x6 plates in my blazer, and i sold my comps. Well im in the market for some new ones, and im going to make custom pods for this one. Well i was thinking of getting some a-pillar gauge pods and using them for the tweeters. I havent gotten any measurements as of yet and im still looking into it. But anyone think this would be a good idea, or a bad one. I really dont see and problems with this, i used the stock speaker grills, for the 5.25's and the tweeter.
Any feedback, paul, fryman, and ngsm please just looking to see what your ideas are on this. Im pretty sure it would work.

I thought about that the other day about using gauge pods and there's one flaw...the pod would only work for the driver's side unless your vehicle was also right hand drive made then it could be done. Cause when you would flip it would be at a different angle. Unless you found non-angled ones...also I think the measurements for most gauges is 52, 58, or 60 mm.

Good thing about the s10 is that the a-pillars are exactly the same on each side, so the pods would fit nice. I can make some glass reducers or enhancers to make them i was mainly worried about imaging. Im not going for total sq i just want it to sound good and i thought was a good alternative to making glass ones for the dash or pillar. Hell even the universal ones with heat can be made to fit any pillar, i might have to get one just to see what the options are.

i know i'm not exactly a pro but i was considering this whole setup about 6 months ago as well. i encountered the problem with them not being the same on the right and left side. the other problem some people said i would run into is the imaging thing. i'm not too good with imaging and everything so i abondoned the idea.
i also read/heard that you only want your tweeters no more than a foot apart from the woofers. i don't know where you would mount your woofer but in my car it would be more than 12"

Yeah the pillars may be the same but the universal gauge pods I think angle some. Like they curve towards the drive so he can see the pods. Hopefully you can find some kind of pod that will work though. Cause I would love to do the same thing in my car.

Just make custom kicks and put them with the mids.

My mids will be on the dash right next to the pillar, im making pods for the new 6.5 setup i want and the pillar would be a perfect spot to mount the tweeter, they seriously be within maybe 4 inches of each other.

you want your tweeters 12" or less from the MIDS, not necessarily the subs. People that put them on the A-pillars typically put the tweeters on the "inside", parallel to the window. That way, the intensity (volume) of the close tweeter to whichever listener is cut a good bit. Imaging cues for tweeter frequencies is pretty much level dependent only.
