I've owned this 2000 Jeep Cherokee for 4 years without one single problem till now. I drove it as usual yesterday and everything was fine. I went out to start it this morning and it cranked, but would not start. It has a 1/4 tank of gas in it. It was cranking kinda slow so I jumped it off my daughters cherokee. It cranked faster, but still no start. I can hear the fuel pump stabilizing. I poured a little gas into the intake and still no start. The engine turns over, but doesn't seem to be getting any fire. Can anyone help???

if you can hear the fuel pump for a couple of seconds when you turn the key its probably the crank shaft sensor or cam shaft sensor. Crank shaft sensor is most commnon on the 4L engine. Try to get your hands on a obd2 scanner to test for codes to confirm what is happening.

On a 2000, you should be able to do the key trick (on-off-on-off-on, leave on, in 5 seconds) and get the codes from the odometer. When you do, post back here with them.
I got the code P0320 on my 2000 Grand Cher, it was the crank position sensor. If that's your issue, suggest part from dealer only, as people have reported operating problems with aftermarket ones.
