By the time the summer ends, ill have enough money to get serious on a project car. But im having a real hard time deciding what car to do.

I'd like it to be a GM car, preferrable RWD and V-8 capabilites.

No earlier then 1980 and no later newer then 1995

Anyone know some cool or maybe special models of cars that be a good project? and kinda cheap

V8 s10, not too hard but not too easy either. Hopefully i will be doing this in the next year.

A lot of people are doing S-series V8(305/350) swaps. I was going to do a 350 swap in my S10 Blazer. But, I decided rebuilding a 2.8 would make it a better daily driver. The S-series are very affordable and V8 swaps are fairly easy. Parts are also very abundant. If your wanting to do such a thing I would recommend looking around http://www.s10forum.com or http://www.blazinlow.com. :2cents:

You may want to consider an 80's Malibu. Many came with V-8's so there are no swap problems, plus they are light enough to be quick with a mild (low buck) small block build up. Since it's not a Camaro they are relatively inexpensive, which fits your last criteria.

I like that idea Almoststock.

Im going to start looking for some in my area (aka autotrader/swap meets) By chance do you know what kind of V-8 they came with? are there engines set up for emission or before that

Thanks guys!

Yeah I think they only came with 305's, but where ever the 305 fits...

Regarding the emissions question... Emission equipment started in the 60's with positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valves, and later air injection reactor (AIR) pumps and exhaust gas recirculation systems (EGR) and others. These either don't hurt performance or you can still pass a test without them. The real problem started in 75 when catalytic converters were added. Any car that is supposed to have one will not pass without it. (which includes the Malibu's in question) Still, that doesn't mean you can't have two separate exhaust systems. One for performance, and another for passing tests. Heck, I know guys who keep a separate motor for the occasion! (big cams won't pass at idle)

you can get some ideals here. build a duck and be the first on your block to have a party on the water or land. it can also run on bio deasle.

the jeep is cool to. i bet you could build one on a off a chevy truck.
