Problem with shift knob on 97 Jetta

Hi, I own a 97 Jetta GT with an auto tranny. I'm having problem with the shfter, as the safety switch on the side of the knob is stuck. I can still shift from P to the other gears, but because the button is stuck, i can't get my keys out.

Anyone know how to fix this?
