Well, yesterday I got all the internals for my motor and head to be completely built. There are a few questions I have though for anybody who has done the 6 bolt swap into their 2g's...

Will my 7 bolt water pump fit in the 6 bolt? (It only has about 15k miles on it and don't wanna buy another one.)

Can a 7 bolt lower timing belt cover be modified to fit a 6 bolt?

When I was pulling the 7 bolt out, we just cut the heater core lines because we couldn't get them off. In the process a ton of coolant spilled onto my clutch/flywheel assembly. When I had a heater core line blow up on the firebird, the coolant caused the pulley underneath to lock up and ruined it. Will there be any problems with my pressure plate to reuse it? Would the coolant have ruined the surface that touches the flywheel? If so, can it be repaired? I decided to just buy a new disc for my exisiting pressure plate since its made to handle the power already.

Did anybody keep their cruise control? I would like to but I hate having all the boxes and lines everywhere.

What sensors are on the firewall at the top? I want to remove them all but I'm not sure whats what and if my car will run without them. Remember, I am NOT getting DSMLink. I just want to make sure I can get it to run without all those sensors and crap.

Thanks guys. :)

I dont know much about what you asked, however I can say that your car will run without those lines. I wonder if thats whats causing my high idle....

Don't disconnect the emissions solenoids and such without DSMlink unles you want constant CELs.

You can not use a 7 bolt water pump on a 6 bolt block

You can not use 7 bolt lower and middle timing cover (due to aforementioned water pump change), but IIRC the upper one is the same.

The pressure plate will be fine if it gets cleaned thoroughly, the disc should not be reused since it's porous and will absorb the slippery coolant.

I originally kept the CC with the swap, but later came to my senses and got rid of it. It takes up too much space, and with a setup large enough to run high 11s or so it no longer does a very good job of controlling speed.

What would I do without you Kevin? You are the human DSM manual. lol

I wouldn't mind the CEL if I am able to remove all those selonoids without having any problems with the car actually running properly. Thats my only real concern about it at this time. A little yellow light won't hurt my feelings one bit. It'll be quite comfortable there with my ABS light that has been on for the last year.

So it is indeed safe to remove all the selonoids without it interfering with how the car will run even without DSMLink?

***EDIT***

BTW, how would I properly clean the pressure plates inner surface? I was planning on getting a new disc for it but ran into the problem of them offering it for either a "turbo 4wd" or a "turbo 4wd 247"... Any clue as to what this 247(for 2g's) and 146(also an option for the 1g flywheel I was going to order) means? I searched all over the place and made a thread about it but got no answer.

I think you're going to have to ask about the clutch disk when you order. I have no idea what those numbers could possibly represent.

Even with the CELs I believe the car will still run the same. In other words, I don't think any of the related CELs cause a limp mode or similar inconveneince (like the random misfire CEL does). One trick though is to run like 4 feet of vac line between the TB and MDP sensor to trick the ECU into thinking the EGR system is working. I never tried this trick, but people report that this works. I don't think the EVAP crap triggers a CEL. So you might be able to get out of it without even a CEL? Worth a shot, epsecially if you need to worry about passing emissions.

Emissions won't be any problem here in my area.

Whats MDP stand for? Is it that one sensor that is in the silver case on the middle of the firewall?

**EDIT**
Which sensor in this picture? lol
