Noise

I have jimmy 1998
I have sometimes problem
When i push the speed pedal i hear some noise
like some aluminium moving, and after 2-3 minuts is ok
This is only when i am driving, and hapened every day more
I check under for some aluminium losses or something, an i cant found anuthing

Is the truck 4wd?
Where does the sound come from...front? back? left/right side?
Is it a scraping or rattling sound? Or a clunk?
Does it happen only during certain times? accelerating? braking? turning left or right?

Anwswering these can help pin down what might be going on...thanks!

My first guess would have to do with your 4wd. Check to make sure that the tranfer case is disengaging completly and that the front differential is disengaging. What can happen is that the vacuum lines that lock the front hubs can develop a hole and not allow the front differential to lock the front hubs completely, causing a slight noise where the meshing gear teeth just barely touch each other. But for that to happen, the transfer case would have to be engaged. This can be caused by a stuck shift cable for the manual (floor) shift like mine, or by a bad shifter motor for the push-button type. If you have a good floor jack and four stands you can check engagement by lifting the whole truck (no tires touching) off of the ground, starting the engine, and putting it in gear. UNLESS YOU ARE AN EXPERIENCED MECHANIC, DO NOT TRY THIS...IT IS DANGEROUS! Improper placement of the jacks can cause the truck to fall and move under uncontrolled power. Go to your friendly mechanic and have them check the 4wd for proper engage/disengagement.
Other unrelated causes might be a loose heat shield, a front or rear differential that is low in gear oil, or failing axle bearings. Good luck!
