Well, Kevinthenerd was right, the tire was still being cut by the fender even after I had some of it cut off, well we cut even more out of it out and it seems to be fine now, still could use some camber tho..

TheSilentChamber
07-08-2006, 12:17 AM
haha.

Moppie
07-08-2006, 07:44 PM
So you mean you looked at the tyre and saw where the fender had been cutting through it?

Carfreak18
07-08-2006, 09:37 PM
Yea that would be our fault...stupidity...we checked the tire on the front right after i ran my heat race and it seemed fine..whew

Moppie
07-08-2006, 09:39 PM
So about some photos of the car?

TheSilentChamber
07-08-2006, 11:15 PM
Factory size tires pretty much never rub... ever.

Carfreak18
07-08-2006, 11:38 PM
the tire is a 205 65R 15"

I would love to post some pics on here but i dont got a digital pic..ill update with pics as soon as i can someway...

Moppie
07-08-2006, 11:42 PM
Is that the orginal tyre size though?

Moppie
07-08-2006, 11:49 PM
Well according to tyrerack the orginal size is a 215/65 15.
So your actualy a running a tyre smaller than stock.
The chances of that rubbing are virtualy nil, especialy if you have already cut the guard back.

Now, are you also going to say that in this wonderful world of digital technology you can not get even one simple cell phone photo of the car?

Carfreak18
07-08-2006, 11:54 PM
I have no idea what the original tire was, this car was bought used, it was a racer before...and yes i do have 1 pic on my cellphone but whenever i try to send it to my email it sais "Invalid destination address"..and i think it might of been the fender cuz I watched the other cars and the front right gets so low going through the turns.

why dont you minimise body roll with a stiffer suspension and anti-sway bars?

Moppie
07-10-2006, 08:54 PM
So, lets recap:

We have a guy who's been racing cars for awhile, has served on a pit crew, and comes from a motorsport family, whos running in a class that allows camber changes to the suspension, but limits tyres to stock sizes only.
He dosn't know what tyres he's running.
The Tyre he is running is to small, but still manages to rub on the guard, yet he dosn't notice it.
The guards have already been rolled to give more clearance.
And, he hasn't yet thought to invest in some better springs and shocks.
Oh, and his cousin, who is apprently a mechanic, dosn't know how to build a camber plate, or how to disassemble a suspension strut.

07-10-2006, 08:58 PM
do i detect a hint of disbelief here?
i'd stay and help with the question but i've got to do a top end rebuild of my '73 RS and source another set of four cam shafts.....
:naughty:

TheSilentChamber
07-10-2006, 09:20 PM
You wanker, 73's had five cams. One intake, one exhaust, one midget, and two double helix's.

Alright,my class isnt limited to stock tires, just not racing tires, which I already told you,and my tire is a 205 65R 15"..and my cousin isnt a mechanic..Listen before u go sayin stuff

TheSilentChamber
07-10-2006, 11:55 PM
If your not limited to tires why are you running such shitty ones?

I thought you said in your original thread that you were limited to using the stock size tire. You crack me up :screwy:.

The first one. It was closed because this guy was irritating everyone and the thread turned argumentative. If you haven't read through all of it already you should. It's freaking hilarious.

drunken monkey
07-11-2006, 10:43 AM
well... i pointed out the two threads because, well, looking at the dates, it looks like the guys has been having the same thing happen (if he is to be believed) for around half a year and is only now trying to get some answers.

i would've figured that if i couldn't figure out what was wrong, I wouldn't be doing any sort of racing, due to it being a danger to myself and others, until it is sorted.

there are different kinds of stupid in this world.
one of them is the kind that needs to be removed from the gene pool.
guess which one this is?

anyway, he can't be columbo.
he didn't say...

And here comes the anger, anyone know what the 3rd stage of an online fantasy is?

beef_bourito
07-11-2006, 06:08 PM
banlandia? or just leaving the forum...... or is it then saying that he can't get pics because his camera broke/ his harddrive crashed/ his friend lost his camera, etc.

Moppie
07-11-2006, 07:44 PM
Amature

Next comes denial, he will start denying things, changing his story around etc.
Then comes either more anger, and he gets banned, or acceptance, and he admits to his errors. From there he just has to try and earn some respect back, usualy by doing lots, and lots of reading, and keeping a really low profile.

Of course, we could all be over reacting, and he might be telling the truth.
But thats easy for him to prove.

Moppie

Wow.

Thats a race car?

Ok, assuming its yours (and its easy to find photos of anything on the net) it looks like what ever wheels are on the car, are not ment to be there.
The wheels and tyres should fit in the guards, not outside them.

The whole things looks very unproffesional and dangerous.
Have to wonder about the type of "racing" you claim to be doing, and what sort of help you've been getting with it.

VIVA LA MEXICO! ... that car might be good for driving though fences...

For The Last Time...ive Said Its A Stock Class,a Cheap Class!..and When I Get Home..which Will Be In About An Hour Ill Send You More Pics To Prove You Its Mine...and Whats Wrong With The Wheels?..this Isnt Nascar!.

Moppie
07-11-2006, 10:20 PM
If the wheels are the wrong off set then they will rub on the guards, no matter what you do.

So, how about a photo of you with the car, with a sign that says "Hello AF" or words to that effect, Ill let you use your imagination.

So, more questions, just what club to you race with? What series? What type of racing is it (they all have names, and if you really compete you will know what they are).

...and Whats Wrong With The Wheels?..this Isnt Nascar!.
What's it for , 3/8 mile oval?
Something creepy about that right front. It's sticking further out than I'd expect. Like Moppie said-check out the pedigree on those wheels-- they may be mongrels.

Interesting, did you ever bother to read the rules for your class?

http://www.lakeeriespeedway.com/2006%20Krazy%20Kompact%20Rules.pdf

Because its pretty clear on suspension mods, including changes to camber, but its pretty open in terms of what tyres you can run.

07-11-2006, 11:28 PM
Its been over an hour, wheres the pictures?

TheSilentChamber
07-11-2006, 11:29 PM
by the way, any self respecting person would not race in a class called "krazy kompacts"

Racincc85
07-12-2006, 07:44 AM
I wonder if they allow leaf blower forced induction in that class... with a name like Krazy Kompacts I would hope so. If you are interested in this let me know; I've got an old echo blower lying around that I no longer need. It'd probably be good for 40 horsepower and would compliment those wheels you have wonderfully.

He's right too. You guys are all acting like giggly 16 year olds on your first prom date.
Me, I'm totally upper crust and dignified.

Hey, I was 17 when I went to my first school ball.
And I was only giggling becuase of all the Kava I drank. And the Beer.

But, we still have someone who is making lots of claims they still seem to be unable to properly substaniate.
So either he is racing at a level well beyond his ablity, making him a danger to himself and others, or he's got limited access to a race track, maybe to watch someone else race, and is building an online fantasy around it.

My experiance in Grass Roots motorsport has always been a positive one filled with lots of help from more experiance particapants, with a strong emphasis on safety.
Quite the opposite of what is being drawn out here which is largely whats causing all the doubts.

get some different wheels with the correct offset. the rules only say that they have to be dot rated tires. easy fix.

Carfreak18
07-12-2006, 09:54 PM
Thats me on the drivers side getting in..blue firesuit..black and white hat=raiders...what do you mean by correct offset?

TheSilentChamber
07-12-2006, 10:19 PM
Your a "race car" "driver" and you dont know what offset is?

Moppie

Your a "race car" "driver" and you dont know what offset is?

Or what brand of tyres he's running, or for that matter how to read the rules and regulations of his class, or even how to chat with other drivers at track, in what is clearly a class aimed at low budget entry level drivers, and so should be filled with lots of helpful advice.
Oh, and don't forget his cousin, who has a shop, and works on cars, but isn't a mechanic and who dosn't know how a strut comes apart.

Its either all really bad fantasy, or I hear lots of Dueling Banjos.

07-13-2006, 02:01 PM
Oh sorry I dint explain my life story to you guys, my fault..its my uncles auto body shop, hes retired now and we use it for the race cars..how about you all just stop talking cuz none of you obviously can help me..

drunken monkey
07-13-2006, 02:42 PM
the way i figure it you drive in a very amatuer form of racing and have been making it out to be bigger than it really is, whilst asking for some genuine help.

your cousin has done bits and bobs in a garage but isn't really a mechanic and just gives you a helping (non-technical) hand.
you race but are in no way an experienced driver.

your "racing team" is two guys who tend to a car (badly)

how close is this?

ac427cpe
07-13-2006, 03:12 PM
as far as your question goes... look up the origonal wheel size for your car. It will be "wheel diameter x wheel width" or vice versa and et# or jj# that # is the number of mm the mounting face of the wheel is from the center. more important in your situation i think is the backspacing. you need to find out how much room you have between the strut tower and the mounting face of your wheel, after you know that you can determine what width wheels to look for so you don't have so much wheel sticking out from under your car.

Carfreak18
07-13-2006, 08:31 PM
ok, thank you for helping and not being so negative, and yes drunkenmonkey you have pretty much figured it ou what ive been trying to explain thank you
