post this exact poll in the nissan area and see what you get. its a drivers race but In my opinion the spec V is ugly

i agree it's a drivers race....
i personally like the looks of the spec V (except for the back)
i also like the looks of the celica too, but chose the spec cuz it's more of a bang for a buck kind of deal

hmmm...i have a GTS and i test drove a spec-V, i didnt think the nissan pulled as hard as the celica when the vvtl-i kicked in. also the nissan has like 170 hp four doors and is heavy compaird to the celicas 180 hp. the celica has way better handling to.:smoker2:

the spec has 175 hp, but also 180 tq, it pulls reasonably good, the specs have cvtc that has a similar concept to the vvt-i, actually, they're exactly the same but have a different name, i'm not sure if this is better than v-tec, some say it is, and some say it's not
spec v handling is pretty good, it's has a pretty fast slalom (better than the type R) but it's not so smooth

Wassup everyone,
Like he said in the beggining, I'm not here to hate bash anyone or anything like that. My first comment is about who's faster. Well I ran one probably about 2 weeks ago. I'm not gonna lie, I won but not by that much, his front bumper was a little bit behind my back bumper. Also the Celica only weighs about 200lbs less than the SpecV's, mainly because of the engine size, 2.5 and 1.8 is a big difference. The SpecV weighs 2730 and GTS about 2540. However I do agree with the comment about it's a drivers race. I ran the RSX type S and smoked it I don't know how many times. There is already a big debate on that, that will probably never end. Now that car has 200hp and like 139-142torque. But anyway it was deffinately a close one withe the GTS, and it's gonna depend on who is the better driver. Now he might have been a better driver or maybe he wasn't.
My next comment is on the HP. Your saying that the SpecV is only producing about 170 to the engine, well the specV and the GTS dyno charts say something different, they were not that far apart hp wise. I'll post back here in a minute with the numbers. The torque is no doubt more than GTS and almost more than any of the new pocket rockets that came out except for the new VW GTI 1.8T/ which has 180lbs as well. I personally haven't driven the GTS, so I can't really say if they pull harder than the SpecV's but I will say this, the handling on the GTS must really be something if your saying that it handles better than the SpecV's..... it's all love here. Peace:alien:

good race...props to you. Well, I've driven an SE-R spec V and it doesnt pull as hard as my 00 GT-S when the VVTL-i switched in. Also, the GTS has a longer rev which is also better. You gotta test drive one to know. The only good thing about the Sentra is its stock LSD and the torque figure. I have never raced an SE-R spec V, but would love to sometime.
Have u tried racing a Type R? Have fun with it...cuz by the time u pull to second, it'll still be in first in it's top power. I'm 99.9% it'll take u..cuz it can take me...hehe:D

i dont know what is faster but i gave a new gts a run this weekend on rt 332 in central pa, it had all these mods or must have because of the stickers it had on his car. it at least had a exhuast but i didnt help because i still passed him at over 130mph. do the celicas have a speed limiter or are they just slow?
pinyoot4you

suspecting that guy you raced had a whole bunch of stickers, he is a ricer ( i could be wrong), some ricers also are posers, which means they probably slapped a gt-s emblem on there
the gt-s has crazy high end power due to vvtl-i, so it shouldn't be a problem going faster than 130,
i could be wrong, then again u have a gst and we don't know what kind of mods you have in your car

a stock gts tops out around 140...but 5th and 6th gear are pretty gutless so you need alot of road.i would still take the gts over the spec v because its way more sporty.....if the spec v was a 2 door i would take it.i like my cars to be quik and to look good as well, i think the spec v looks good from the front but thats it.i believe nissan makes supperior engines though. heck...i just want a sylvia!!!

as for earlier, my car is totally virgin.
anyway sleepers are the best thing on the road, i always wanted a 95+ maxima. whats better than 4 doors, 200+ hp and the family car type look that will fool everybody when you smoke them off the line. but i got an eclipse so everybody expects that now. :flipa:

that's only con that i don't like about this car, i'm wondering if there's any bodykits comming out to fix this problem

the only thing about the spec v that bothers me is how low the redline is. i drive a V6 maxima and i redline 400 rpm higher. i raced one and it was relatively close until third gear when he shifted into fourth i pulled about an extra half a car ahead. all said and done the race ended with me about 1-1/2 cars in the lead
Either way you'd end up with a pretty good car. too bad TRD is on its way out of business

Yeah, the Celica has more power on a piece of paper, but its horsepower curve is nothing like the Spec V. I think that the VVTLi in the celica kicks in at like 6500 rpm or somthing. That gives you like 1300 rpms of that power. Ive driven the celica, and it does pull a lot more when the VVTLi kicks in, but below 4000 rpm you would never guess that its got 180 hp. The Sentras 2.5 liters give it enough low end torque and horsepower, along with a MUCH flatter power curve.
I would rather have the Celica out of the two though, it looks so awesome!!

6000 RPM to be exact. The spec V has an awesome low end power, but I don't know why it drops off so quickly. The really hurts the performance of the Spec V. Still good...but i would rather have a Celica and i do have one too. :)

Ok,
I last night raced a GT-S Celica in my SPEC. it was me GT-S and 2000 Preylude. First time we went I got them both off the light but then it took about 6-8seconds for the celica to catch up, he did pass me though. he got me about a half maybe a car. second time again happen, I got him off the light and then he then afterwards started creeping on me again to pass he wasnt stock though, And I was. The preylude just could not catch up.:D I was pretty happy with the outcome anyways since it took him some time to catch up. I personally dont think its a drivers race because in the end they will just pull. in the 1/4 I give it to the SPEC.:smoker2:

I would think that the Prelude would beat both of you. What year was it? Maybe he was just a really terrible driver. I would figure that you would be able to beat a GT-S also, He must have been quite modded. 0-60 in a GT-S is like 7.8 I think. The Spec V is around 7.5. Prelude is around 7.3 for the last gen.

People have gotten the GT-S to run 14.8 in the 1/4 mile stock, you are underrating it quite a bit. A stick GT-S will drop a stock Lude.

GT-S= 7.8 sec? More like high 6's to 7 flat.
Lude h22a= about the same as the GTS
Spec V= 7.5 sec.
I raced a Prelude SH and I only beated it by a half car. We both had the same thing. CAI/Exhaust
Raced a Spec V...it got me off the line, but i passed him pretty quick in third.
I think the dude in the GTS and prelude must have been bad drivers..
