Speaker Wiring.

I have a 92 Jetta Turbo Diesel, that I just bought about 18 days ago. And I went through the whole getting the radio out of safe mode today after I had repairs done on the car last week.

And since I fixed the radio, I got home and decided that I was in the mood to check out the rest of the audio in the car.

Turns out the front right door speaker doesn't work, and the back left speaker wasn't working either.

Front door speaker was actually dead but the rear speaker worked when I switched it, and I had another speaker that works and I tested that on the wiring harness for the speaker and determined that the wires are no good.

Does anyone know where these wires run exactly, I have already followed them along the underside of the back seats and down along the floor and next to the passenger seats, but I am hesitant to go ripping the carpeting out from the whole car, does anyone know where the wire comes out on the other side of the car, near the front, and where it attaches to the radio etc...

As well if anyone could give their opinion, is it worth my time to try to take all this out or is it relatively in-expensive at best buy or wherever I decide to go to get a new radio?

I just replaced the evap on mine and I'm very familiar with the wiring behind the dash.
The speaker wires go along the passenger side and up to the dash, then run behind the dashboard (directly behind the glove box and up slightly) over to the radio. There are tweeters on the top right and left of the dashboard that are in paralle with the front door speakers. Try unplugging one of these and plugging in a normal speaker. If the tweeter is severely shorted it could be causing a problem. If the door speaker works with the tweeter unplugged it would be a clue. If the speaker works when plugged into the tweeter plug, then the problem is between the door and the dash. If not, it's behind the dash between the radio and the glove box. Try pulling the radio and checking for continuity with the speaker wires shorted and for shorts to ground.

Walmart/Best Buy stereos are easy enough to wire in, but it's very hard to find a installation kit to make it look right in the dash. If you can find one, you'll probably have to pay almost as much as for the stereo.
