Well if you've already bought the IAC then install it and if it fixes the problem then move on. Then proceed to replace other things, have you had the TPS checked? The reason I ask is cause it's not cheap to replace those sensors, make sure there bad before you spend the money.

Was it idling that way before you had the t-belt and everything replaced?

Next time use the subforums.

your mechanic is crap just like mine, Long long time ago I own a 97 rs, and get my mechanic changing the timming belt, after that my car idle really rough, and heard the pipe keep shooting shit out, like poping sound, and he told me to get IAC, I went to napa and bought one for $70-$80, go back to the shop pop in, it still dont work, then some dude came in the shop, just a random person, he told me that he can fix that, turn out the fucking timing was off, fuck my mechanic, I aint come back their again. Back to the topic, check your timing.

Yeah, mechanics are fucking morons. I'll be butt-fucking damned if anyone other than me turns a wrench on my DSM or any other future car (Evo :grinyes:).

If you have to ask that question you probably shouldn't be doing it yourself. Just because if you mess it byebye engine. The risk exceeds the gain if your unsure.

Bring it back. Or tell him you're taking it somewhere else and he's getting the bill. Getting a tbelt job done doesn't magically make the IAC shit the bed. Your mechanic knows this too. So he not only sucks, but doesn't take responsibility for his work. Which is all too common these days.

The only thing that will cause an idle that bad is plugs or incorrect timing. Do what Kevin said and bring the bitch to somewhere else that knows what they're doing and then send him the bill. He caused the mistake, he should pay for it. And watch out, he will try fill you full of some bullshit like he tested the IAC and knows it's bad and this and that, but we know better than that, i'm 98% sure the timing is off.
