I just got off the phone with my neighbourhood junkyard - they said they have a d16a6 for my crx (long block) for $550 Canadian. Is this a good deal? Would the engine be reliable?

In my experience from buying motors from junkyards, you get just that, junk.

Alright, scratch that - A Japanese store told me they'd sell me a ZC block for $420 :D , would a b16 valve cover fit on it? i hate the ugly ZC one.

I wouldn't buy an engine from a junkyard, just stick with Jap import shops. As far as a b16 head bolting up to a ZC, the answer is no... A ZC is considered a d-series so a b-series head will not bolt up. If your looking for a cheap, drop in swap for your A6, try Hmotorsonline.com and get a Jap single cam ZC for only like 390 bucks. If you HAVE to have a doulbe cam ZC, well good luck finding one that doesnt burn oil.

Alright , awesome. I find it funny how a ZC block is cheaper than a D16 which creates less power and is only SOHC...

Yeah see the great thing about dropping in a ZC is that its pretty much a drop in swap, no mounts, no linkages, and you can use your d-series tranny. ZCs, both single and double camed are a great, low-buget swap...you just need to make sure the motor you get isnt too old or burns a of of oil.

So around 50-70k is pretty good then ehh? My boy said he wanted to hook me up with a turbo for it... I'd rather keep it stock and save up for my dream - the B18c5 type R

IMO the C5 is over rated, its too much green for a 4 banger, you could build LS or B20 VTECs to be much better for cheaper.

I hope you're getting a Dohc ZC head to go with that Dohc ZC block.

Yeah, whole long block, I guess I could only just swap the heads instead of whole block...

You can't swap a D16A6 head onto a Dohc ZC block.

Do you mean a double cam ZC head on an A6 block? Cause that wont work...a single cam zc head will work on an A6 block or vise-versa.
