What to do next?

Im a newbie to this forum so i don't relly know anyone here but I own a 2003 Silverado with a 4.3. It is a regular cab shortbed. I just installed a K&N FIPK, a flowmaster after-cat exhaust and a hypertech tuner in it and it has helped out tremendously. It is a 5-speed so it is pretty quick. It will keep up with my best friends 4.8. Well i guess i should get to my question. What is the next thing I should do to my truck next? Maybe a throttle body or a mass air flow or what? What would be the best next mod? Thanks for any help you guys can give.:screwy:

Sounds like you have most of the bases covered. Is your truck two or four wheel drive? If two wheel and you are looking for performance I would go for new gears, headers and/or NOS.

If it is four wheel I would go with a lift.

It is two wheel drive. I have thought about gears but i kinda veered away from those cause i didn't know which would be the best to put in it. I have plans to put on headers in the near future, but i want to get my ignition system upgraded with new wires, coil, distributor cap and a new ignition box. how much would gears help out? And how much NOS can a V-6 handle without breaking anything and still be reliable?

I wouldn't get NOS unless it's mainly for racing at the track. For gears you can't go wrong with 3:73's. I'd suggest headers since you have the intake and exhaust covered.

Don't take this question the wrong way, but if you were going to mod so much why did you get the V6?

I didn't want the V-6 my parents got the truck for me while i was at school one day. I wanted a truck wih the 5.3 with a 5-speed. but it looks like i am stuck with a v-6 for a couple of more years. Oh well can't always get what you want. What would be better to get with the headers a mass air flow sensor or a throttle body?

That sucks. But at the same time you can't bitch if about you're parents getting you a truck either.

Are you talking about a new throttle body or throttle body spacer? If it's the spacer stay away. I've heard they don't do nothing. Other than that it would be up to you. Id say do which ever ones you can afford at the time or save up for one big one. Mass air flow would probably be my last choice.

No I am talking about the whole throttle body if i can find one. Everywhere i look i haven't been able to find one for the V-6. Ya i try not to bitch but i am paying for it so i still do. If i could get rid of it without too much of a rollover i would and get a V-8. But i also can't bitch because i am getting from 23-26 mpgs. And my truck will keep up with my friend's 4.8 without too much of a sweat so i guess i can't complain. But ill keep working on it trying to make it better until i can get something different.

Chevy does not make a 5.3 in a manual.. so you would have been out of luck anyways.

Ya i know Thats why i was kinda hesitant about wanting the 5.3. If i got one i would have to buy a non-gm transmission o put behind it. But i don't know which manual i would be able put behind it

I don't know that you really want to do that.. have you driven the 5.3 auto? They are pretty quick.. if anything I would get a nelson's tune and change the shift points. Not to mention, there would be a lot of work to change from auto to man, because the shift lever is on the column not the floor.. you would have to cut a hole in the floor.

Well Mine is an manual right now anyways so it already has the hole in the floor. So Thats why I am so attimate about staying with a manual if i put the 5.3 in my truck. That way i don't have to get a new column and then cover up the hole
