You must ask to be forgiven.
Or so I've been told.

The Judeo-Christian religion teaches that all sins (except one, but that is a rather long theological discussion) are forgiveable. The "catch", as it were, is to accept that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and ask him to forgive you of your sins, and from then on attempt to continually improve your life inwardly and outwardly, striving to distance yourself from "sin" and asking for forgiveness as often as necessary. Oh, and your statements of repentance must be sincere. Sadly, there is no "magic word" or phrase that grants you forigiveness/salvation.

i couldn't have said it better myself. you basicly have to be sincerely sorry for it, ask for forgiveness, and try not to do it again. if you don't then it's not forgiven.

I just haven't figured it out yet, if Jesus forgives everyones sins.. How come people burn in hell?

because those people dont want to try to avoid sin but rather they enjoy sin to the fullest with no regard to humanity or "god"
i dont think you go to hell just because you dont accept god or beleive in him but rather you dont try to do good in your life.

The bible says all have sinned. Yet it also says we have free will. So apparently we don't have the free will to choose not to sin. It just doesn't add up.

The original sin was sex. Therefore since we are all created from a sexual union we are all born with original sin hanging around our necks, not a whole hell of a lot you as a fetus can do about it. However that is forgiven if we ask for forgiveness. From there on out its on us to use our free will to do good and avoid sin where possible and ask forgiveness when we do sin.
That has how it has been explained to me. Which seems to agree with:

So whats stopping everyone to be as bad as possible, rape, murder, adultery etc etc and then just say "I accept the Lord Jesus Christ as my savior , he is the Son of God, forgive me ole Lord for I have sin." Then that bastard who raped and murder my sister can come up to heaven and sit along side of me. Yeah that sounds quite peachy and lovely, great deal if you ask me.
No wonder so many convicts about to get executed say that. Its a free ride into heaven.

If you run over a clown, ask forgiveness and then try to do good after that then you'll be alright. If you run over a clown, ask forgiveness and proceed to mow down an entire circus then you probably weren't all that sincere about being forgiven.
It's not just asking forgiveness its also trying to do good. I would think in practice there would be a bit more of system of checks and balances than:
"Did you say you're sorry?"
"Yes."
"Alright go on in."
Which is odd to say because it's not as if I believe in any of this anyway.

actually that's really far from the truth, sex is not a sin at all, sex outside of marriage is. the original sin was addam and eve who ate the forbiden fruit. that's why we're not in the garden of eden naked.

You must've missed the other half of my post. According to Christian theology it isn't just saying "oh I'm sorry" that makes everything ok. It's a broken and contrite spirit and a sincere intent to do better in the future.
