Water Leak at Firewall

I drove my '98 Aurora yesterday and noticed a pretty good sized puddle forming on the passenger side just below the firewall. I jacked it up fast and got under there and what I saw was confusing. There was definitely water dripping down from the firewall. I know the heater core is in this general area. So, I thought it was going out. The puzzling thing was that it was not hot water though. And it definitely should've been if it was water from the coolant system. The only other thing I can think of is it may have been condensate from the a/c? Would this be the correct area for it to come from? When I looked, there was like a 1/2" diameter tube that came out of the firewall, elbowed down about 2" from the firewall, and slowly came to a point. The water was dripping off this point. What in the world is this? Is this a bad thing or not?

If it does not smell like antifreeze, and has no color, i..e green or red tint, it is condensate from your air conditioner evaporator core draining out through it's drain pipe like it is supposed to. Nothing to worry about. I assume that your air conditioning was turned on.

that was condensate from the AC. That tube you saw was the drain. it is probably clogged. get up to it and open the end up and clean out any debris as best you can.

what is happening is the water moisture from the car is draining on to the floor instead of the ground cause the drain is plugged up (or you have a hole in the heater box)
