New Shaper Impreza?

Hey Guys,
I read on WRC-online.net that Subaru may bring out the 2003 Impreza with a re-designed front end, has anyone else heard this, or even better heard an update on this?
It was back in March that I read this and have yet to hear anything more....
Thing is, I want to trade in my 2.5RS for a new WRX but if they are bringing out an '03 with a different snout then I am going to wait to see whether it is worth getting over the current.
Let me hear from you guys, my money is burning a hole in my pocket and I am wondering whether to wait or not.

The only exterior change I've heard up is a slightly different front lip (read: barely noticible), otherwise absolutely no changes. The only other differences are a lighted ignition switch and a new limited edition paint color called Sonic Yellow. You might as well get an 03 they're basically starting to come in to dealers by now unless you think you can get a better deal on the 02's.

Actually I think there isn't going to be any changes to the 2003 Impreza. If you go to Subaru's website and to the news section, there is a link to the new prices of all the Subaru's. And in there it states any differences because for the other cars, like the forester was redesigned and some others had a few changes. For the WRX, all it said was that it had a new color calles Sonic Yellow that comes with a rear spolier, I'm thinking a different one than the ones now and that the price of the WRX has gone up 200 dollars. Check it out.

Rumor has it the STi will sport the new face.

The STi will be a MY2004 model, though, so you're not going to see anything about it on Subie's web site. Hell, you ain't gonna see anything about this car on their site until the day before your dealer has them on the lot. (If the 2002 WRX was any indication, anyway.)

Personally, I think this WILL happen. The execs of Subaru knew something was amiss when the first questions they were barraged with when the New Age Impreza bowed all concerned it's "funny face".

I saw interviews with execs where they put this silly spin on it - saying that in the WRC, it's "friendly face will fool competitors when it reveals it's ferocious nature". (Or sumthin' like that, anyway :P)

I say phooey! I love Rexes and Evo's but come on, they were at there best when they looked quirky and raw. Now it looks like a refined goofiness. I've warmed up to it, true, but I do hope that when it comes time to consider separating from the S4, there will be a facelifted STi waiting for me.

It really does grow on you. The first time you see it, the first thing you think is, "ewwwwww, thats horrible." But after a bit you start to love it.

So it would seem I was right after all, there is a new shape Impreza coming out for 2003, I wonder when we will get to see it in the USA?
Have a look at either www.rexilla.com or www.swrt.com
I think the new rally car looks plain mean....hopefully they will do something with it:)

This is a 1:18 scale model of it, but to be honest, I like the current body style better than this one.

if that is a 1/18 model of it, then the photos on swrt.com are all of the 1/18 model, that is the same as one of the photos on swrt.com, I think that is where it came from too.
Not trying to argue, just stating a fact.

exactly my point Tsui......
Do some people think everyone is stupid?
The photos on SWRT are the studio shots for the press release......it says on SWRT even, they are the real car

I'm really excited about the new look and the possibility of getting the STI! I'm gonna go to my dealer very soon and put a deposit on a new STI :licker:
I wonder if will have the stronger gear box and the 6 speed tranny? I also wonder if it will be more powerful than the MY02 WRX. I love my yellow rex, but I'll trade it for an STI in a very skinny minute ;)

I love the new shape Impreza. A much improved front end - as opposed to scared Japanese schoolboy type face it has now. Much more aggressive. Even though I've gotten use to it. This is the shortest redesign in Subaru's history - for a reason. The current one is so fucking ugly.

Not sure I'm clear here. Are you trying to say I am lying or that someone is misusing the pic? I got that pic from a scale modeling site and they are using it to advertise a soon to be release model.

not calling you a liar bud, they are using a photo of the real car to advertise the model, a lot of companies do that, including the top ones like Tamiya.
The photo you posted is one off SWRT.com, that is all. It is a press release photo of the real car.
So, SOMEBODY is misusing the photo, not you.

Oh, okay!:) I wasn't clear as to the comment. I think that the new style is a little too RSXish. But that's just me.:D

Thats what it was! I knew that those headlights looked similar to something, but couldn't put my finger on it. I like the current look though.
