:banghead:
I have a 1988 Lincoln TC. It's not shifting up once I reach 20-30mph. the engine just whines out. One of the 3 cables that comes from/near the throttle body is unattached-(speedo cable?)It's the innermost cable that comes forward from the throttle body and attaches to a small horizontal plate with a hole in it. It goes up through that hole and is held in place by a bushing/grommet. that bushing/grommet is broken. Chain stores don't have'em. Taking one out from a JY will break it. I've been told that I can't replace anything that it will have to be improvised, if that's even possible. It is a $2 part. Is it possible that a $2 part will make my lincoln junkyard material? I have a guy that wants to charge me $75 just to look at it. I've got kids and not enough money- anyone have any ideas?
Thanks,
Heather

Throttle Valve Cable, Throttle Valve Cable Bushing.
Bad News !!
If that TV Bushing was left broken for too long, it will destroy the Transmission.
Good News, If you catch it intime, a new bushing, and proper adjustment will fix the problem. The Dealer sells an upgraded Brass or Bronze Bushing/retaining clip for around $4.

Wow- your great! I even called it by the wrong name and you still got it. A man from "lincoln Land here in clearwater told me it was the speedo cable-- dummy! I looked at the article you sent and recognized it immediately! The local dealership has 1 in stock for $8.23. Thanks so much for reading and responding! I haven't driven it more than 2 miles since it started acting up so it should be fine. thanks again- you rock!
