Baby '73 Vette, sort of... The nose (not shown) is an endura style closer to a '73 Vette and I'll keep the rear metal bumpers. The engine is not going to be the stock 1.9L 4 banger. It will have a turbo.
Just a minor diversion from the heavy duty concentration work required for the Super Seven, been tinkering with this almost for a month a few minutes or an hour at a time a few times a week.
Tamiya Camel Yellow, it's pretty loud in the direct sun...
And it is an original AMT kit I bought back when it came out, that's what they are for, building, at least to me... - Mark

LOVE IT! It is so rare that somebody actually builds them...I agree with you 100% - they are made for building!

Cheers

PS: Are you going to put on German or American license plates?

Thanks all. I re-read my description of the engine I plan to use and I realized it reads like I am just turboing the 1.9L 4 cylinder.
That engine is being replaced by something else, that will have a turbo. It's not even a 4 cylinder. You'll have to wait to find out what, but it is the reason I decided to build this model, it's an idea I've been wanting to execute for decades...
It will have U.S. plates, (California).
And I'm back to work on the 7 so I have no idea when this little pup will be done, like so many other projects I always seem to have the energy to start... - Mark

I was starting to wonder what you had been up to........Very nice. I am going to guess a straight 6? Might be a long shot though.

Nope, not a 6 cylinder either..., I don't think a straight 6 would fit, and it would throw off the weight balance even if it could with much of the engine over/in front of the front axle. It will have fuel injection along with the turbo, maybe an intercooler too... After all, it is a baby 'Vette... - Mark

Been tinkering with this again... Finally made the tires and finished them. I cast them from resin, I had two vinyl tires from something, needed four, so I fitted one to the R&MofM Minilites, also resin and popped four of these out. Sprayed the wheel centers gray, hand painted the aluminum silver lip. Goodyear decals are Scale-Master from an old run I had done. Bottom pic gives an idea of the look it will have... Now back to work on the real project... - Mark

Great progress so far, I love the last pics. I'm going to guess a rotary for the engine.

the only opel GT I know of is the 1/25 scale AMT kit. I may be wrong, but I'm sure that's it.

Ding Ding Ding...! We have a winner! Scuderia.
Yes, an R1 from an RX-7 will reside under the hood.
Even though it is a 1/24 scale engine and the Opel (Yep, an old original issue AMT) is 1/25 scale, the engine is so tiny it actually works in favor of the combo. And thanks for the kind words too... - Mark

Have had some time to work on the Opel again, it was stalled for a while when my resin I was using to make it's tires stopped curing. Now that is fixed and I have installed the engine. Pretty much the stock Tamiya R1 parts plus a pair of machined distributors so I could at least wire the spark plugs...

Fabulous work. I like "box" arts.
I just remembered that some concept Corvette had a rotary.

The chassis is a bit on the simple side, but mostly there, think upscale promo.
