I have an 87 cavalier convertable that I am fixing up but the doors are really bad. Does anyone know if the doors from a 91 cavalier will fit. I know that there is a body style change, but the doors look the same. I was thinking of taking a two door hardtop door, cutting off the upper window channels and use them for my convertable. Anyone have any experience in this area? Thanks

I dont believe they will directly interchage. The inner door panel changed in 1988 on the 2nd generation Js and it may have effected a few things inside. Also, the side mirror is different as the 82-87 doorskin rises at the front to meet the cowl/fenderline.The 88-94 doorskin does not rise in the front.

I went ahead and bought the doors and I paid special attention around the mirrors and found out that underneath the newer trim, the door lines do match up with the front fender. They are going to need some work though. The inner door skin has been cut out and another aluminum skin has been pop rivited in to accomodate the convertible window mechanisms and stops so that the window does not pop out the channel. Thanks for the replies.

The doors cost me $75 each, whole door including the power windows, power locks trim and glass. Funny story about those doors. I had scouted them out at the wreckers and knew which ones I wanted because many were rusted at the bottom, these had been rust proofed with that orange goo and were in excellent shape. Went back the next day and the car was on the fork lift going to the crusher. The driver put the car down so I could get the doors off. There was another 89 with a 2.8 with 143,000 km on it. went back a week later and the whole car was gone. Snooze and lose.

sounds like the 00-02 cavalier's around here. when you find one you might as well take everything you might need off, the next day it is gone. been looking for headlight for over a year now.
