need some help on wiring an engine

I am trying to wire an engine for the first time and I need to get some advice. It is an injected engine.
What lines are needed for an engine to run? Fuel lines, injectionlines from the distributor to the cilinders, one from the coil to the distributor. What about the battery?
I ordered some inginitionwiring from Hiroboy (excellent service) and I was looking for some thicker wire to attach them to the distributor and the cilinders if you know what I mean. I came up with the outside of a paperclip. Does anybody of you know if this is the right size? The ignitionwire fits inside and the paperclip part fits around the pins of the distributorcap.
Thanks for your help

Go to a real car, measure the wire, and then divide it by the scale the model is, example: if it's 1:24 scale then divide by 24.
A paperclip isn't exactly a good way to describe a thickness of something - think of how many sizes and manufacturers of paperclips there are.

Need alot more information. What car, and what kit? Got a camera? Show us some pics of what you're trying to do.
Want to know how thick the wire you're using is? Get a set of dial calipers (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=484569) and measure your paper clip and ignition wire. 7mm is a typical ignition wire size.

I can't measure up the real car since it is my dads. And then, I can't really measure up in less than mm's the thickness of the wire. Then again, it fits over the boots of the distributorcap and still leaves a little space between the wires so it should be right.
The engine is a Ford 2.8 V6 from a old AMT kit that I want to install in a scratchbuilt car. Want to finish the engine first to see how much space I need. Dial calipers would be great but pricey for a student. I do not have a camera at hand, maybe thursday. I'm not home very much so not a lot of progress :(
Any help on what wires go where would still be very helpfull.

If you know what car your Dad has, you could search google.com or alltheweb.com for photos of the engine bay and use them as a reference.
You can also search the web for wiring diagrams.

Here you go - here's some general stuff that might be of use:
Also, I am sure I remember there being a pretty good thread here on AF about wiring and wire sizes etc. A SEARCH should turn it up for you.
This is a schematic I found on the web:

This is what Detail Master have on their web site about wires etc.:
Our Standard Ignition Wire is .012" dia, the CORRECT size for 7 or 8 mm standard ignition wire!
Our Race Car and Custom Ignition Wire is .016" dia., and represents Accel or Moroso hi performance wire.
Detail Wire is a very fine .0075" diameter. Use it for general electrical wiring on alternators, relays, etc. Also works well for 1/43 scale ignition wire, and as upholstery piping on seats!
Our Battery cable works great with our Battery Hardware Kit (DM 2430). It's .019" diameter
Converting inches to mm you can do for yourself ;)
