Transmission filter O ring

97 GA SE 3.1
So I'm changing th transmission fluid/filter. Got the pan off, got the filter out. But I can't get the filter O ring out. Maybe I should have just left it in and reused it, but I've tried to pry it out with a screwdriver and torn up the inside. I can't grip it with needlenose pliers, and move it out with a screwdriver. Anyone got any pointers on how to get it free?

They are in there tight, got to get under the metal lip of the seal, use a prying device on either side of it and work it out.
