Home-Made Tire Rotation

Hey guys, i think its time for a much needed tire rotation.. My front tires have a lot less tread than the back ones do so im gonna swap em around, only problem is i dont have a big fancy hydraulic lifter.. I was wondering how i could do this with only a jack and maybe a jack stand if i can find one, or just something else to help hold it up. Could I just jack up one side and do it one side at a time? Is there a place where ur supposed to jack it on both left and right sides of the vehicle? Like ill prolly loosen the lugs while its on the ground then jack the whole left side up and swap them and put em back on, is this dangerous? I also dont wanna harm the chassis if i jack it up from the wrong area on the sides.. Thanks

i know you can jack it from the back right in the middle.... but you wanna move front tires to back so that wouldn't really help.

buy a little hydraulic jack at advance auto parts, i got one for 16.99 and its made my life much easier than that little wind up toy they supply

that way you have 2 jacks....... and the way i use both is lift it with the hydro, slide the wind-up in, then move the hydro.

There are jack points on the sides of the car just under the body of the doors. If it seems solid enough to jack the car up by chances are it is. Remember to break the lugs free before you jack each side of the car up.

1. Jack up driver's side, swap the tires
2. Jack up passenger's side, swap the tires
3. Jack up front end, swap the tires.
4. Lower the car, tighten it all back down.

yea i suppose you can jack a whole side with a hydro but i hope he finds a good point to jack it from

Well, if its like my car, you jack it up in front where near where the door meets the fender as that's about the car's 50/50 weight point.

K i did it today, results are nice since there is a lot more tread on the back ones [now front] the handling is a lot more crisp. Only problem is its veering to the left a little bit, cud this be uneven torqueing from the lugs? I did em star pattern and everything..

Get the wheels balanced, too. Very important. You wouldn't notice it as much on the rear wheels, but when they became the drive wheels they became much more important.
