Overheating when towing

I've been towing the same cargo trailer for 5 years now and my van is sudenly starting to overheat:banghead: . I've changed the fan clutch but that was a waste of money and time. I've also noticed some ping and knock when going uphill and a definite decrease in power, anyone have a clue as to what is going on?
