Battery Problems

My cousin owns a Range Rover Autibiography 4.4 (about 4 - 5 years old), and he is having battery problems. Every time he puts in a new battery, which is quite often, it runs out. In the latest case, we just installed a battery and it ran out 5 days later.

Any one have any idea why this could be happening?
Appreciate the help, thanx:bandit:

Your alternator may not be charging. You might have a bad wiring short which is allowing a (+) wire somewhere to touch a ground - shorting out the battery and draining it.

First, take the alternator out and check it on a bench tester at a local parts shop (if they don't have a working bench tester, run away!) and see what it is putting out.

ok...thanks for the reply...but i still have one question:

what is a bench tester?

where i live, nobody has even heard of the term, so i need to explain it to them, and i don't have any idea about what it is myself, so...i need someone to explain it to me...

As far as I know, even the local Autozone has testing equipment. Go to them, and just tell them that you think your alternator is going out and you need them to check it out. The one here where I live will do it for free usually.

As for buying an alternator, check out http://www.europartsdirect.com/ and
www.rovercity.com.

The Rovercity website does not work, but give him a call, because he has almost everything for Land Rovers, and he has them really cheap too. Ask for Mohammed and tell him Brad from Utah referred you.

Let us know how you get on!
