Hey i am new here and i am hooking up a sub in my '02 trail blazer and i got a RCA converter for the rca cables but i am hooking up my remote wire and i have it hooked into the switch power in the back of the radio and it won't power the sub. There is power to the remote wire but it isn't making the sub pound. I have tried a bigger gauge wire and that doesn't help. If i take a wire from the 12V on the amp to the remote wire on the amp it will work then but not the remote from the back of the radio. Any new info would be a big help

I'm already assuming that you have this hooked up already, but sometimes it never hurts to ask...
Do you have a power wire going to the battery and a ground going to the chassis? (Reason for asking is, it wasn't in your post)

Yes i have power and a good ground, that isn't the problem. It is the the remote wire. If I unhook my remote wire from the amp and just use a jumper wire from the 12V slot on the amp to the remote wire slot on the amp then the sub works normal. But if i use that jumper wire then that will just drain my battery because it doesn't shut off when the engine or the key is off.

hmm... I've never installed an amp on a stereo that wasn't aftermarket, so I'm pretty much at a loss.

i myself have always hooked the remote wire from the amp to the radio fuse in the fuse box and had good luck. maybe there isn't enuf power from the radio itself???

which fuse box are you talking? The one under the hood and what did you use to hook it to the fuse. Did you find the wire that went to the fuse and then splice into that or how did you do it??? I took a volt meter and checked it and there isn't as much power as using the jumper wire so that could be a possibility of not having enough power.

I have subs and an amp hooked up to the stock stereo in my truck. According to Crutchfield with there wiring diagram as long as your radio has the same plug my '05 TB has there is no remote wire at the radio harness. The radios is controlled thru a data wire and that is what shuts it off and on. I had to go to the fuse box under the back seat to hook up the remote wire to something that was controlled by ignition. I found one of the many wires coming out of the side of the fuse box using a meter that was an ignition sensitive wire and used a t-tap and tapped to that wire... have had no problems with my amp at all. Been working for year and half now. Let me know if you need more info I will get the color of the wire under the seat at the fuse box... also I have a wiring diagram of the harness behind the radio that also shows there is no ignition/remote wire there. I can e-mail if you would like.

I understand there is no remote wire behind the radio but i need somewhere to hook up the remote wire and it sounds to me that you hooked into the fuse box under the seat. I was using a test light to find a power source that would shut off when the ignition was off and i was like setting the horn off and then the vehicle wouldn't start and stuff like that. So i am kinda of scared to be going around and just testing wires to see if they are the ignition wires. So if you could help me out and figure out what wire and where that is at that would help. I understand there is a black box that two wire harnesses plug into and i think that is what you are talking about. I am not talking about the box where there is all the fuses where you can pull out so let me know if i am talking about the same spot as you. All info is a big help thanks

If you would like I went out and took some pics of mine where I have the remote wire hooked up... if you want to give an e-mail addy I can e-mail them to you and hope they will help you out. It is a pink wire that you can tap onto and get the ignition signal... easy to see in pictures.

I just hooked an amp up this morning. In the fuse box under the rear driver's side seat, you can use the 10 amp fuse for "ignition".
